The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) has launched a campaign to highlight the crime surrounding the increasingly distressing dog fighting realities in South Africa. The council's Senior Inspector Wendy Wilson says it's about time that the society must turn anger into action because; dog fighting is ripping our society apart. She joins us on the line to tell us more.

Following the International Day Against Drug Abuse which highlighted the growing problem in societies worldwide, in Mpumalanga the spotlight has fallen the Lowveld area where drugs smuggled from nearby Mozambique are readily available. The small farming town of White River in Mpumalanga has two rehabilitation centres to help addicts overcome their problems.. Amanda Celliers reports.

A Sodwana bay guest house is under investigation for allegedly refusing to accept black people at its establishment. The department of Tourism has asked the South African Human Rights Commission to investigate these allegations with immediate effect, after a visitor at the guest house complained of alleged racist policies. The Minister of Tourism Derek Hanekom said in a statement, racism will not be tolerated in our country and people must report any abuse of the rights. He joins us on the line to tell us more.

The Democratic Alliance says the 7.8 million rands the treasury has determined President Jacob Zuma pay back for his Nkandla home does not absolve him for the balance of the total money spent on the project. The Constitutional Court in March directed that the Treasury determine what President Zuma must only pay for the five items built at his home that did not constitute security upgrades. The EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi says the figure is simply not enough, adding that President Zuma has a lot to answer for...

The Albinism Society in KwaZulu Natal says it is shocked by the alleged kidnapping of a four-year-old boy with albinism - Maneliswa Ntombela - who went missing from Mkhoboza at eSikhaleni, outside eMpangeni in northern Kwazulu Natal. The family say the little boy had been outside a local church in the company of two unknown men. Fanele Mhlongo filed this report.

The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) says that the call by the Gender Commission to scrap Ukuhlolwa" kwe'Ntombi or virginity testing is insensitive and takes the country back to the painful apartheid years. In a statement the department says the practice should be understood for what it is and be addressed with extreme caution. This comes after the Commission for Gender Equality made a ruling that a controversial scheme offering bursary to young South African women who remain virgins is unconstitutional.
