Eskom's Chief executive officer, Brain Molefe says nuclear is the only source of energy that can provide affordable electricity to poor households. Molefe says while the intial cost of investment in nuclear is higher compared to other sources, it can still be financed. He was speaking during the company's financial results in Johnnesburg. Convicted murderer, Oscar Pistorius, could find himself back in jail serving a lengthy sentence. That's according to criminal law experts. Today , Judge Thokozile Masipa is expected to hand down judgment in sentence in Pretoria's High Court. Pistorius's defence team argued last month for a non-custodial sentence while the state is looking for the minimum sentence of 15 years behind bars. The former athlete shot and killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013. Noma Bolani reports..

The killing of a human rights lawyer, his client and a driver has caused outrageous protests in Kenya. Hundreds of disgruntled Kenyans took to the streets with placards expressing their shock towards the killings. Three police officers have since been arrested in connection with the murder. The South African economy shed fifteen-thousand jobs in the first quarter of 2016. This is according to the Stats SA's quarterly employment survey, which shows that the jobs were lost across all sectors of the economy. KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Community Safety and Liaison Mxolisi Kaunda, has called for calm after the killing of four people in the previously volatile KwaMaphumulo area, on the province'sl north coast. This comes after three people attending a traditional ceremony on Saturday were murdered when unknown gunmen opened fire on them. Two died on the scene, while the third died later in hospital. A fourth male victim who also attended the ceremony was shot while sleeping in a house in the early hours of Sunday. S'khangiwe Mthiyane reports

The Independent Electoral Commission in the North West is again going to begin a process to verify addresses for voters in the Tlokwe and Ventersdorp municipalities. Tlokwe independent candidates are accusing the IEC of not having done enough to verify the addresses of voters appearing on the voters roll, as ordered by the constitutional court.
