The township of Masiphumelele south of Cape Town, is alleged to be so dangerous that even the members of the Police are scared to enter it. According to media reports, the Police were supposed to establish a mobile police station in the township, but due to continuous violent protests, they are re-assessing their decision. However, the Head of Communications at the Western Cape Police, Brigadier Novela Potelwa strongly denies this. The parents of students participating in the #feesmustfall campaign at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) want all police and security personnel to be removed from the campuses. This is despite reports that two buildings have been set alight allegedly by protesting students at the University of the Western Cape. Pilots of South African Airways (SAA) have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a vote of no confidence in both the chair and non-executive directors of the board. This comes as financial situation at SAA still remains on the spot light wit h the controversial Airbus deal and possible breaches of certain legislation. The City of Joburg - through the Johannesburg roads agency (JRA) - will be spending 1.4 billion rand on the improvement of roads in the 2015/2016 financial year. This includes bridges and storm water drains as part of the city's economic growth and development plan. Police union POPCRU has questioned the way Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Police is dealing with the suspended National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega. The union accuses Phiyega's critics of being desperate to get rid of her. This came out at the end of its National Executive Committee meeting in Pretoria at the weekend. Phiyega has been suspended pending the outcome of the Board of Inquiry's investigation into her fitness to hold office. This relates to the killing of 34 mineworkers in Marikana in August 2012.
