The Department of environmental Affairs' biggest concern ahead of the climate change conference in Paris is to find ways keep the increase in global temperature below 2°C. Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa says the rising temperatures already have an impact on water, food security and eventually infrastructure and overall development of countries in the continent. Meanwhile farmers are already feeling the pinch as drought threatens the levels of produce farmers are can currently produce in order to continue feeding the nation. Today, the state is going to court to appeal Oscar Pistorius' culpable homicide conviction. It is seeking a murder conviction. The state believes that Judge Thokozile Masipa erred in applying the law when making her judgment in September last year. Pistorius is currently under house arrest. Protesting Wits University students say campus demonstrations might have stopped for now, but they will continue to fight for all their demands using other means. The students and the workers have now abandoned the protests after the parties agreed in principle on Sunday that Wits University will end the outsourcing of workers. A commission will be set up to oversee the process of ensuring that the workers are hired directly by the university. The university has also confirmed that the final exams will start next Monday. A police officer has been shot and killed and another wounded in a shootout with suspected robbers at Lwamondo village near Thohoyandou in Limpopo. The officers were patrolling the area when they saw a suspicious vehicle. They followed the car and a shootout ensued. The wounded officer drove the police car to a nearby brickyard with the body of his colleague in a passenger seat to seek help. Our reporter Rudzani Tshivhase reports

The race to find a new Fifa president is on and our former Minister of Human Settlements Tokyo Sexwale is one of the presidential candidates. Sexwale comes with a lot of experience within Federation. He is currently serving as an adviser to Fifa. He previously served in the fair play committee and on several subcommittees, including the committee of the Fifa global task force against racism and discrimination.

South Africa is experiencing a crippling drought situation and already, some parts of the country have been declared disaster areas. The unfavourable climate conditions are expected to persist for the next three years and result in South Africa receiving below average rainfall. This is the country's worst water shortages in 23 years, and has caused a decline in farming output that will lower its GDP and cause food-price increases. Water and Sanitation Minister Nomvula Mokonyane has called for individual self-discipline by water users. Over 350 million rands has been set aside to address the drought problems in South Africa as over 11 thousand rural communities could face serious drought if there is no rainfall in the coming weeks and months. This was revealed by Water and Sanitation minister Nomvula Mokonyane at a media conference in Johannessburg about the extent of the water crisis in the country.
