DA says it will propose Constitutional amendments to ensure that key institutions remain free from political interference. The party says over the remainder of the parliamentary term, they will propose changes such as taking away the President's power to appoint and remove the National Director of Public Prosecutions. This must be done, the party says, to stop the eroding of institutions due to cadre deployment in, for instance, the Electoral Commission, the National Prosecuting Authority and the South African Revenue Service.
