A police officer has given damning evidence against his colleagues who are on trial for the death of Mozambican taxi driver, Mido Macia. Warrant officer Mpumzi Ngamlana told the High Court in Pretoria that Macia was brought into the police holding cells on the 23rd of February 2013, with no trousers and had suffered head injuries. Hours later, he was certified dead by the paramedics. Video footage showing Macia being dragged at the back of a police van hours before his arrest went viral on the internet. Nine former police officers are on trial for the death of the 27-year-old taxi driver. Phumzile Mlangeni reports.

Durban High Court Judge Achmat Jappie has called on leaders of the two factions in the Nazareth Baptist Church to calm their followers. This follows clashes between faction members outside court earlier this week. Police used rubber bullets and teargas to disperse the congregants. At least two people were injured and property was damaged during one of the clashes. The Church's leadership tussle began after the death of late leader Vimbeni Shembe. Vimbeni's son, Mduduzi and his cousin Vela are fighting over the leadership. Sbongakonke Mbatha compiled this report.....

Certain employees of the Gauteng legislature are allegedly involved in corruption, fraud, malpractice and nepotism. The allegations are contained in an anonymous letter sent to the office of the speaker. SABC News is in possession of the letter. It alleges that legislature employees prefer certain companies during procurement and that some staff have been promoted without following proper procedures. The letter also claims that some jobs are being sold for five thousand rand.

DA leader Mmusi maimane says it would be unwise to dismiss the fact that ministers Nathi Nhleko and Thulas Nxesi are appointed by the president, serve and defend him as well.
