The Durban Magistrates Court has granted R2000 bail to a Durban police officer who alledly shot and killed his 12-year-old son at their home. The officer is alleged to have mistaken the boy for an intruder. The African National Congress in Gauteng says it's all systems go as it begins its 14th Gauteng Elective Conference in Benoni, east of Johannesburg today. The conference is expected to see over one-thousand delegates vote for the party's new provincial leadership amid concerns over disputed branches in some of the regions. Last month, the party announced elected officials from the Ekurhuleni regional conference, despite what was then thought to be five dispute branches. Earlier this week, a report by NEC member, Jeff Radebe into allegations of irregularities in the lead-up to the conference, uncovered that there were 27 disputed branches instead of the reported five. The front runners for the position of provincial chairperson are current Deputy Chair, Panyaza Lesufi and Provincial Executive Committee member, Lebogang Maile. State Capture Commission Chairperson, Justice Raymond Zondo has handed over the fifth anbd final installment of the much-awaited State Capture report to President Cyril Ramaphosa. The report has made damning findings against a number of high-profile politicians and role players at State Owned Entity's for their roles in the capture of the state. Among some of his recommendations, Justice Zondo recommends that law enforcement agencies conduct investigations with a view to prosecute Transnet board members or officials for agreeing to unjustifiably increase the price amounting to R740-million in relation to the procurement of 100 electric locomotives from the Chinese company CRS. He has also recommended that Ramaphosa take urgent steps in all cases relating to corruption at the passenger rail agency of South Africa.
