The SABC has partnered with Gift of the Givers to run a campaign that encourages the public to donate money towards assisting people affected by the floods in KZN. We’re joined on the line by Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, Gift of the Givers Founder.

Many families have been displaced by the floods in KZN which have claimed more than 400 lives. We now speak to one of the victims Nkosinathi Majola.

• The wet weather persisted in many parts of the country this Easter weekend including parts of KZN, what is the outlook for this week especially for KZN?

• Are these the results of global warming?

#TheTakeoffInterview| The flooding in KwaZulu-Natal has left thousands of people distraught and displaced. NGOs such as Gift of the Givers are working to provide flood victims with food, clothing and other essentials.

• Death toll from the floods is over 400  (at 443 yesterday afternoon).
• More than 60 people are still missing.

Gift of the Givers

In a Facebook post, Gift of the Givers said “hot meals, blankets, bottled water, warm clothes, sanitary pads and [nappies] are the initial requirements for those in low-lying areas who have lost their material possessions. Food parcels, school uniforms and stationery will be provided where the need arises, building material will be considered as well as repairs to damaged school infrastructure”.
