    The owner of David Frost Safety, David Frost says the new Evidential breath Alcotest Machine which has been launched by the Joburg Metro Police Department has to comply with the required scientific standards. The device will provide a printout containing information about the driver's level of sobriety which will be used in court. The 2018 road death toll has risen by 16% so far when compared to last year's figures at this time of the festive season with the numbers currently sitting at 767.

  • Moyane files application to appeal North Gauteng High Court ruling
    The legal representative of former SARS Commissioner Tom Moyane says their legal battle is important in order to clear up issues around the challenges against the president's powers to fire SARS bosses. Moyane filed an application at the Constitutional Court to appeal the High Court ruling this morning. This came a week after the North Gauteng High Court dismissed with costs Moyane's application to appeal his removal from office following a damning Nugent report. Judge Hans Fabricius said President Cyril Ramaphosa was within his rights to fire Moyane. However Moyane's lawyer Eric Mabuza felt that Fabricius made errors and committed mistakes when he delivered that judgement. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Moyane's lawyer Eric Mabuza.

  • Baberton rape suspect to apply for bail
    The 26-year old man who has been arrested for raping his friend's 15-year old daughter is expected to apply for bail tomorrow. He was arrested in Baberton, Mpumalanga on Monday after being on the run for two days. He was also sought in connection with the assault of the child's father which took place four days before the rape. Our reporter Motsebi wa Monareng is following the story.

  • Asylum seeker who enters SA illegal can still apply for that status
    An asylum seeker who has entered illegally and fails to apply without delay is still entitled to apply for asylum under the Refugees Act. This is according to a constitutional court ruling, made in the case of Ruta vs Minister of Home Affairs. Alex Ruta is a Rwandan national who worked for the Rwanda National Security Services. He was sent to South Africa by his superiors in 2014 but he had to enter the country illegally because he did not have a visa. Once in South Africa, Ruta learned that his task from Security Services was to assassinate members of the exiled opposition party, the Rwanda National Congress. He said he immediately reported this to the Hawks who put him under witness protection while an investigation was opened. Ruta said he told the Hawks that he wanted to apply for an asylum permit, but he was never given an opportunity to apply. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Wayne Ncube who is an Attorney with Lawyers for Human Rights.

    The landlord of the Soweto woman who allegedly poisoned herself and her three children has told Update At Noon that he ccanot say for certain that she had financial problems as claimed. The woman and her two children are being treated at different hospitals after rat posion was found in their home. The elder child who was 13-years old died on the way to hospital.

Speaking to the Shows anchor, Desiree Chauke, Narius Moloto argued that the recent conference is illegitimate and illegal.
