The Africa Attractiveness report has revealed that despite weak economic growth foreign direct investment on the continent increased by 6 percent in 2017. The report also shows that South Africa still attracts more investors, sharing the top with Morocco. It is the first time that South Africa was matched by another country in terms of being the most preferred investment destination. Ethiopia also showed an improvement jumping seven places to become the fifth-largest FDI recipient, its highest ranking. The Father’s Rights Movement with the assistance of the Justice and Reconciliation Centre say it will file papers in the Constitutional Court next year in order to get the law changed so that fathers can have equal access to their children during and after divorces are finalised. The group marched to the SABC's Auckland park offices in Johannesburg to raise awareness about challenges some fathers face on this matter. They say the state is depriving them their parental rights. They want divorced or separated fathers to know their rights as contained in the Constitution as well as the Children's Act. They say their rights go beyond visiting their children only on weekends and paying child support. One of these fathers, Orrock Robertson, says his ex-wife has kept him away from his son for almost a year.

The legal team of Nigerian pastor Timothy Omotoso is taking to the Supreme Court of Appeal to petition the court directly after Judge Mandela Makaula of the High Court in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, denied them leave to appeal his ruling that there are no good grounds for him to recuse himself. The defence has accused Makaula of being biased towards the first witness Cheryl Zondi who was allegedly raped by Omotoso. The trial will now continue on the 10th of December 2018. Police are looking for a man whom they believe can help them in their probe into the death of seven people discovered at a house in Vlakfontein, South of Johannesburg yesterday. Authorities say Sibusiso Enerst Khoza was staying at the house and that neighbours have spotted him recently. Police responded to a complaint after a community member complained of a stench that came from a nearby house. Upon arrival police found the bodies buried under a pile of sand in the bedroom. Another man has been taken in for questioning. Elvis Presslin spoke to police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo.

President Cyril Ramaphosa says South Africa will continue to welcome potential investors from across the world in order to have a growing and vibrant economic development. He was speaking at the official opening of the inaugural South Africa Investment Conference in Sandton, north of Johannesburg. Ramaphosa says government has worked hard to reduce policy uncertainty, regulatory barriers and red tape in order to improve the ease of doing business.

The United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, Leilani Farha, has presented a report that found that informal settlements represent a "systemic human rights violation" that arises as a result of state action. Her report urges states to adopt a human rights-based approach to informal settlements by urgently upgrading informal settlements and avoiding relocations or evictions. Nearly a quarter of the world's urban population lives in informal settlements where residents often live without water and sanitation and are in constant fear of eviction.
