Residents of Lawaaikamp, Borcherds and Parkdene have joined in on the action, and are being kept at bay by police. This follows an anonymous tip-off about alleged irregulaties. 18 months ago former CEO Linda Makuleni was fired, leaving behind allegations of corruption and tender fraud in the organisation. Fears that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission will not be able to run free and fair elections next month are mounting. Candidates who should have received the voters' roll allegedly still don't have access to it. The country's Electoral Commission says it is facing administrative challenges in availing it to candidates as required by law. But it says the election will go ahead despite any grievances parties may have.

Eastern Cape ANC chairman Oscar Mabuyane has dismissed the Sbu Ndebele Report as flawed. In the report, Ndebele, calls for the party to set aside the outcome of the conference. The report was the subject of a hearing at the South Gauteng High Court yesterday. Mabuyane says only a court of law will decide on what is right.

The Information Regulator SA has requested an urgent meeting with Liberty Holdings CEO David Munro, to understand how its data became compromised. The company's system was hacked and those responsible are demanding a ransom. The regulator has requested information about the extent and contents of the data breach, as well as the interim measures put in place to prevent further breaches. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to the Chairperson of the South African Information Regulator, Advocate Pansy Tlakula.

Workers at airline SA Express may not get paid come month end. Trade union Fedusa is calling on government to intervene and provide funding to the state-owned entity. The company was grounded last month after failing to comply with safety regulations. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SA Express spokesperson Refilwe Masemola and asked if the c ompany had issued notices to workers about the possibility that they may not receive their salaries.

Queues are getting longer at VBS Mutual Bank in Thohoyandou in Limpopo as clients withdraw their money and close their accounts. The mutual bank was placed under curatorship by the SA Reserve Bank in March following reports that it was facing a liquidity crisis. This after Treasury instructed municipalities to stop investing with the bank. A number of councils withdrew more than R1 billion from the bank since the order issued was last year. The bank first rose to prominence when it loaned former president Jacob Zuma R7.8 million in 2016 to repay state money improperly spent on his private home. Our reporter Shibu Mamokgere is at bank.

The ANC's National Executive Committee is meeting today at the St Georges Hotel in Irene outside Pretoria to discuss burning issues plaguing the ruling party. Top of the agenda will be issues around North West, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Free State and Gauteng's upcoming elective conference. Meanwhile, the Johannesburg High Court is expected to hear a case by four ANC members from Eastern Cape who want to compel the NEC to take a clear stand about a report that called for last year's Provincial Conference to be nullified. A KwaZulu-Natal minority rights group is considering opening a case against EFF leader Julius Malema for his statement that Indians are racist. Malema was speaking during his party's Youth Day commemoration event in Klerksdorp in the North West Province this past weekend. Chairperson of the South African Minority Rights Equality Movement (samrem), Daleep Lutchman, says they will be meeting soon to decide what charges to press against Malema for what they say is his use of an apartheid system of classifying people by race.
