The suspended SARS Commissioner Tom Moyane's lawyers are preparing for legal battle against President Cyril Ramaphosa. This after Ramaphosa failed to meet yet another deadline to submit an affidavit detailing disciplinary charges against Moyane. President Ramaphosa's lawyers undertook to submit his affidavit substantiating the allegations of misconduct against Moyane by June 8th but failed to meet the deadline. The second one on was Wednesday at five o'clock and the third one at twelve midnight. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Moyane's Lawyer, Eric Mabuza.

Former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng says claims that local content programmes don't generate revenue are false. During his time as COO- Motsoeneng implemented the controversial 90% local content quota on all SABC platforms. He says the SABC is now in financial difficulties because he's no longer at the public broadcaster. Motsoeneng has been testifying at the CCMA in Johannesburg where he's challenging his dismissal from the SABC. Our reporter Angela Bolowana was there.

The South African Police Service has been briefing Parliament's Portfolio committee on Police, on plans to curb cash in transit heists. According to the South African Banking Risk Information Centre, cash in transits heists have risen in the 1st quater of 2018 compared to last year. There has been a series of such robberies in recent weeks in some parts of the country.

It's now almost a year since a group of about 70 families who were evicted from an inhabitable building in Johannesburg, has been living in tents at Wembley Sports Stadium. The City of Johannesburg had reportedly promised them that they will be moved into new housing structures by Friday last week. The owners of the building filed for an eviction order on the basis that the residents were occupying the building unlawfully and that it was not safe for occupation. The man responsible for blowing the lid on the alleged reasons behind the assassination of Sindiso Magaqa, has lashed out at the KwaZulu-Natal Premier and the Moerane Commission of Inquiry. Thabiso Zulu says the KZN provincial government is playing with their lives. Zulu says he and others are still not getting the protection they were promised for testifying at the Moerane Commission.

Members of Parliament have told Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane that they feel she direspected them when she missed last week's meeting. Mkhwebane sent a letter of apology to Parliament a day before she was due to appear before the MPs, citing a family emergency. MPs tried to probe about the nature of the emergency and the details contained in the letter, however, chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Justice Mathole Motshekga said he would make the letter available at a later stage. Mkhwebane has since apologised for her absence.

Over a million football fans are expected in Russia for the Fifa World Cup. The opening ceremony will be held in Moscow tomorrow at about half-past-four South African time. In preparation for all those visitors and the beautiful game, the Russians have been practising how to smile. That's because smiling doesn't come naturally to them. A local Rate Payers' association in Koster has been granted permission to take control of the municipality's water and refuse systems "for as long as necessary". The landmark ruling puts control of key services in the hands of its citizens. Koster, together with the neighbouring towns of Derby and Swartruggens, is part of the Kgetlengrivier municipality in the North West, a province that is under administration. The interdict is the second granted to residents within a month. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Kobus Snyman of the Koster, Derby and Swartruggens tax payer's association.

The UDM leadership in the Eastern Cape has set up a team to investigate corruption and gate keeping in the party. This after the national leadership halted the regional elective conference of the OR Tambo this weekend. The leadership has established that some branch members were paid to vote for particular candidates and that party processes were not followed during branch meetings.
