Over 1 700 out of a total workforce of 1 812 mine workers at Evander Gold Mine in Mpumalanga will soon lose their jobs. The ANC's National Executive Committee on Sunday evening concluded the deployment of people to the party's sub-committees during its special meeting at Irene in Pretoria. Prosecutors involved in former president Jacob Zuma's corruption case have until Friday to finalize their decision as to whether or not to prosecute him. National Director of Public Prosecutions, Shaun Abrahams, gave prosecutors a Friday deadline to provide him with their recommendations on the long-standing matter. Zuma submitted his representations to the NPA last month as to why he should not be prosecuted. This follows a court ruling which set aside a 2009 decision by former acting NPA boss, Mokotedi Mpshe, to drop charges against him. Immigration officials on Thursday raided the offices of the former Gupta-owned ANN7 television station in Midrand. The Department of Home Affairs last night confirmed the raid saying they wanted to verify information brought to their attention relating to visas and work permits of certain ANN7 employees.
