The Moerane Commission investigating political killings in KwaZulu-Natal, has heard evidence from the DA head of the uMgungundlovu East Constituency, Dean Macpherson, in relation to deaths in the Richmond area of the Midlands. He says the killings of ANC councillor Sifiso Mkhize and municipal manager Sibusiso Sithole are politically-related. He told the commission that at the time of Sithole's assassination the deceased had suspended a Richmond municipality official for irregular expenditure. In Mkhize's case, Macpherson alleges that ANC infighting is behind his killing. Meanwhile, Sithole's wife told the commission she was in the dark regarding police investigations into his death.
