The fate of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro Deputy Mayor, Mongameli Bobani of the UDM, will be decided tomorrow. Some political parties in the coalition government have made it clear that they will oppose any motion that would be tabled in the council on Tuesday seeking to get rid of Bobani. This after the Executive Mayor of the municipality, Athol Trollip, confirmed that he is planning to table a motion that will strip Bobani off his deputy mayor title. Trollip has already fired Bobani from the position of the Head of Public Health in the Mayoral Committee.The tension between the two has spilled over to the parties' national leaders, with UDM leader Bantu Holomisa saying that the axing of Bobani would be against the fundamentals of the coalition.
