The DA's Chief Whip in parliament, John Steenhuisen, says they have been assured by the Speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete, that the SANDF soldiers to be deployed during the State of the Nation Address will not be based inside the National Assembly. Walter Sisulu University management and the student leadership met until late last night to try and resolve their differences over outstanding debt. Registration and other administration processes came to an abrupt halt at the University in Mthatha yesterday afternoon. This is after students prevented university workers from entering the premises, claiming that some students who have outstanding debt are required to pay 20 per cent deposit before they can be registered for this academic year.
