The ANC says it will use it's upcoming 105th celebration to reclaim lost ground. The celebrations are to be held at the Orlando stadium in Soweto on Sunday. The governing party's lost several key municipalities in Gauteng such as Tshwane, Johannesburg and Mogale City, to the Democratic Alliance in the local government elections last year. The ANC also lost overall voter support across the country, dropping from sixty two percent to fifty four percent between 2014 and 2016 in the national and local government elections respectively. Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga announced that the Matric class of 2016 achieved a 72-point-five per-cent overall pass rate. The Department of Education in the Free-State is optimistic about the matric results for 2016. In 2013, the province managed to achieve the number one spot with an 87-point-four per cent pass rate. In 2014, the province came second after Gauteng and in 2015, it fell to third place after the Western Cape and Gauteng.
