Anatoly Liberman is a linguist, medievalist, etymologist, poet, translator of poetry, and literary critic. Liberman is a professor in the Department of German, Nordic, Slavic and Dutch at the University of Minnesota and publishes a blog, "The Oxford Etymologist". One of his most recent books is “Take My Word For It; A Dictionary of English Idioms” which explores the origins of about 1,000 idioms in English.
