Dora Jung may not be a name you know but as a famous Finnish artists and textile designer, Finnish -Americans in Minnesota's may recognize their roots in her work.

A new exhibit goes up at the Duluth Art Institute called "Forever Home." The brainchild of Anne Dugan and KUMD's Lisa Johnson, the upcoming photo exhibit is a community show about adopted animals finding their forever homes. KUMD Northland Morning host is an Animal Allies volunteer who photographs the animals for the shelter's website and adoptable animals page. UMD art students open a new exhibit at the Tweed Museum of Art on Tuesday, August 29 called "Water Isn't Free" with a reception from 4-6.p.m. Their exhibit was inspired by their time in a study abroad class this summer which took them to incredible global exhibitions in Germany, Switzerland, to discover new cultures of art and appreciation. Local artist Erika Mock creates whimsical and colorful wearable art that inspires a freedom of expression in collectors. Made from recycled cloth like gently-used textiles and old clothes, her pieces include shawls, scarves, sleeves and other accessories. Check out "Duluth Noir," a new summer exhibit from local artist Chris Dunn of Rooster Tail Ink, on view at the Red Herring Lounge. Dunn has created a new body of work in his unique ink drawing style with a series evoking Duluth's urban landscape. A rare screening of local animation is showing 7pm on Thursday July, 20 at Teatro Zuccone. A collection of films by local artist Jonathan Thunder is an exciting part of his new exhibit “Peripheral Vignettes” at the Duluth Art Institute.
