Whilst recovering from his latest attempt at manned clockwork flight, mild mannered mechanical owl manufacturer and retired” pay- as –you- go” internet radio personality Edward Stephen was suddenly surrounded by a mysterious field of energy and transported to the site of a crashed alien spaceship on the South Downs. Stepping inside to look for any bits of unwanted alien clockwork, Stephen encountered Alalanien Smash, a dying member of an Intergalactic musical peace keeping force called The Velvet Curtain Ring.
Formed after hearing Brotherhood of Man’s “Save All Your Kisses for Me” the VCR had sworn to protect the 25’ O’Clock Zone from musical evil. The injured alien’s Power Curtain Ring had (for some reason) identified Stephen as being Smash’s only worthy human successor. Appointed as Earth’s new Velvet Curtain and armed with the Power Ring and its battery (which resembles an old Roberts Radio) the bemused clockwork aviator was tasked with protecting the planet from ever changing threats, such as auto tune, K Pop and the possibility of Genesis reforming (which is a shame because he likes a bit of early Genesis)
Now we invite Hugh the Listener to join The Velvet Curtain in his ongoing mission to seek out new and old and sometimes frankly annoying musical lifeforms, whilst generally fighting evil and whatnot. The 25’ O Clock Show. Only on Radio Lewes
