This opening episode looks back at Brian Clough's first radio phone-in and some of the classic quotes from it.
The editor of brianclough.com, Marcus Alton, speaks to sports presenter Mark Shardlow who hosted the show. Mark reveals his apprehension before the live phone-in started.
“You never knew what to expect with Brian Clough – he was so unpredictable,” says Mark. “I had to prepare for anything and my heart was in my mouth when he started talking about how he would cope with all the foreign players in the game. But he was brilliant. It was a fantastic day.”
The BBC local radio show was so successful, it turned into a regular programme across the East Midlands on the commercial station Century FM.
Mark also reveals how he helped Brian behind the scenes and recalls some of the classic quotes during Brian’s lively conversations with fans who phoned-in.
This episode also includes a competition and details of an exclusive discount code to get money off football books.
A former BBC Sports Editor, Mark is currently presenting podcasts looking ahead to the Olympics, called Destination Tokyo.
