William Carey was an English Christian missionary, Particular Baptist minister, translator, social reformer and cultural anthropologist who founded the Serampore College and the Serampore University, the first degree-awarding university in India. He went to Calcutta (Kolkata) in 1793, but was forced to leave the British Indian territory by non-Baptist Christian missionaries. He joined the Baptist missionaries in the Danish colony of Frederiksnagar in Serampore. One of his first contributions was to start schools for impoverished children where they were taught reading, writing, accounting and Christianity. He opened the first theological university in Serampore offering divinity degrees, and campaigned to end the practice of sati. Carey is known as the "father of modern missions." His essay, An Enquiry into the Obligations of Christians to Use Means for the Conversion of the Heathens, led to the founding of the Baptist Missionary Society. The Asiatic Society commended Carey for “his eminent services in opening the stores of Indian literature to the knowledge of Europe and for his extensive acquaintance with the science, the natural history and botany of this country and his useful contributions, in every branch.” He translated the Hindu classic, the Ramayana, into English,[10] and the Bible into Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Marathi, Hindi and Sanskrit. William Carey has been called a reformer and illustrious Christian missionary.

समाजवाद्यांचं अपयश व काँग्रेसमधील असंतोष यांतून 'प्रजा समाजवादी पक्षा'ची स्थापना :
१९४८ मध्ये स्थापन झालेला समाजवादी पक्ष आणि गांधीवादी नेते आचार्य कृपलानी यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली १९५१ मध्ये स्थापन झालेला किसान मजदूर प्रजा पक्ष या पक्षांचं विलीनीकरण होऊन सप्टेंबर १९५२मध्ये प्रजा समाजवादी पक्ष (प्रसप) या नव्या पक्षाची स्थापना झाली.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an Indian statesman who served three terms as the prime minister of India, first for a term of 13 days in 1996, then for a period of 13 months from 1998 to 1999, followed by a full term from 1999 to 2004. Vajpayee was one of the co-founders and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a Hindu nationalist volunteer organisation. He was the first Indian prime minister not of the Indian National Congress to serve a full term in office. He was also noted as a poet and a writer. He was a member of the Indian Parliament for over five decades, having been elected ten times to the Lok Sabha, the lower house, and twice to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house. He served as the Member of Parliament for Lucknow, retiring from active politics in 2009 due to health concerns. He was among the founding members of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS), of which he was president from 1968 to 1972. The BJS merged with several other parties to form the Janata Party, which won the 1977 general election. In March 1977, Vajpayee became the minister of external affairs in the cabinet of Prime Minister Morarji Desai. He resigned in 1979, and the Janata alliance collapsed soon after. Former members of the BJS formed the BJP in 1980, with Vajpayee its first president.

स्वतंत्र भारतातील पहिल्या सार्वत्रिक निवडणुकीचं यशस्वी आयोजन :
१९४७ साली स्वातंत्र्य प्राप्त झाल्यावर संसदीय लोकशाही राज्यपद्धतीचा स्वीकार केलेल्या आपल्या नवनिर्मित देशातील पहिल्या सार्वत्रिक निवडणुका २५ ऑक्टोबर, १९५१ ते २१ फेब्रुवारी, १९५२ दरम्यान पार पडल्या. या ऐतिहासिक निवडणुकांनंतर १३ मे, १९५२ रोजी पहिली लोकसभा गठित झाली व त्याचप्रमाणे याच काळात विविध प्रांतांत विधानसभाही गठित झाल्या. कमालीच्या उत्साहात पार पडलेल्या या निवडणुकांमध्ये स्वातंत्र्य चळवळीचं नेतृत्व करणाऱ्या काँग्रेस पक्षाला सर्वत्र मोठा विजय प्राप्त झाला.
Informative session about the important personality. Sri Aurobindo was an Indian philosopher, yogi, maharishi, poet, and Indian nationalist. He was also a journalist, editing newspapers like Bande Mataram. He joined the Indian movement for independence from British colonial rule, till 1910 was one of its influential leaders and then became a spiritual reformer, introducing his visions on human progress and spiritual evolution. Aurobindo studied for the Indian Civil Service at King's College, Cambridge, England. After returning to India he took up various civil service works under the Maharaja of the Princely state of Baroda and became increasingly involved in nationalist politics in the Indian National Congress and the nascent revolutionary movement in Bengal with the Anushilan Samiti. He was arrested in the aftermath of a number of bombings linked to his organization in a public trial where he faced charges of treason for Alipore Conspiracy. However Sri Aurobindo could only be convicted and imprisoned for writing articles against British colonial rule in India. He was released when no evidence could be provided, following the murder of a prosecution witness, Narendranath Goswami, during the trial. During his stay in the jail, he had mystical and spiritual experiences, after which he moved to Pondicherry, leaving politics for spiritual work.
