A weekend car crash in Youngstown has left a sixteen-year-old girl dead and her older sister in intensive care. Relatives say sixteen-year-old E’Lexus Conner died Sunday when the car she was riding in was chased down Market Street and struck at Myrtle Avenue, splitting the car in two. Traffic investigators are searching for the driver who fled.

A Grove City man faces up to twenty-three months in prison after pleading no contest to placing hidden cameras in the bedrooms of two juvenile girls. In court, Brendan Shollenberger entered the plea to charges of child endangerment and corruption of minors. Sentencing is set for September.

And Youngstown City Council is looking into grants to resolve a looming winter heating crisis. Council members met with a local consulting firm to help downtown businesses navigate massive steam rate hikes of up to one-hundred-and-sixty percent approved for S-O-B-E Thermal.

Disgraced former Bradford County District Attorney Chad Salsman is a free man after serving the remainder of his state prison sentence. Salsman was convicted of promoting prostitution and obstruction of justice stemming from sexual assault allegations by former female clients. He was released from SCI Coal Township last week and remains disbarred.

Chemung County is moving ahead with plans to bring up to four-hundred new jobs to the region. A proposed one-hundred-and-fifty-thousand-square-foot Amazon distribution center is set to be built on thirty acres in Big Flats. The forty-million-dollar project is expected to double Amazon's local footprint.

And despite a Republican primary loss, Chemung County Executive Christopher Moss announces he will run for a third term this November. The former sheriff plans to stay in the race on the Conservative Party line, challenging county legislature Chairman Mark Margeson.

The Olean Common Council’s recreation committee met last night to vote on a major one-point-one-million-dollar bid to repair the city pool. The plan at War Veterans Park leverages an eight-hundred-thousand-dollar state grant to tackle the massive overhaul, though leaders warn more work is needed.

Voters in South Dayton headed to the polls yesterday to make a historic decision on whether to completely dissolve their village government. If approved, South Dayton will become the fifth Cattaraugus County village to dissolve in the last eighteen years, turning all municipal operations over to the surrounding Town of Dayton.

And the forty-ninth annual Great Wellsville Balloon Rally officially kicks off this Friday at Island Park. The free, three-day community tradition features four massive hot air balloon launches, tethered rides, Saturday night fireworks, and a completely sold-out Main Street festival.

West Virginia’s largest healthcare network, which operates Parkersburg's Camden Clark Medical Center, is paying over four-million dollars to settle federal allegations of controlled substance violations. Investigators say the WVU Health System committed numerous record-keeping errors and failed to report the theft or loss of addictive medications.

A federal judge in Charleston has thrown out a Department of Justice lawsuit seeking to force West Virginia to turn over unredacted voter records. The judge ruled the federal government failed to show a valid legal purpose for demanding the sensitive personal data. Secretary of State Kris Warner praised the decision.

And cleanup at the site of the massive Peoples Cartage warehouse fire on Camden Avenue has been halted by a state cease-and-desist order. State health officials ordered the stop-work due to potential asbestos exposure, mandating that the owners hire specialized, licensed contractors.

We begin with an extreme weather warning stretching across the Empire State. The National Weather Service has issued a widespread Heat Advisory in effect from eleven a-m until eight p-m today. Meteorologists warn temperatures in the nineties, combined with heavy humidity, will push heat index values past the one-hundred-degree mark. Emergency officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity and check on vulnerable neighbors.

In state education news, a sudden leadership shakeup is rocking Western New York. The Buffalo Board of Education voted abruptly on Monday night to accept the immediate resignation of Superintendent Doctor Pascal Mubenga, less than a year after he signed a major four-year contract. The board declined to comment on the reason for his sudden departure and has appointed Doctor Ebony Prophet-Bullock to serve as interim superintendent.

Meanwhile, a Rochester man faces federal charges after allegedly threatening to kill Donald Trump Junior. The Secret Service arrested thirty-nine-year-old James Eckert Junior after tracing threats posted in the live chat of a podcast, as well as on a subsequent livestream. Prosecutors say Eckert also targeted Rochester Mayor Malik Evans and faces up to five years in prison.

The West Virginia United Health System, doing business as WVU Medicine, has agreed to pay over four-point-one-seven million dollars to resolve civil allegations of Controlled Substances Act violations. A DEA investigation uncovered recordkeeping and reporting failures between 2017 and 2024, including a systemic failure to report thefts and significant losses of highly addictive medications.

And state health officials are warning residents to take precautions after a sudden, unusual spike in a rare intestinal virus. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department has confirmed thirteen local cases of the severe stomach illness so far this year, a massive jump compared to their typical average of just one case annually.

          A Bath County couple is accused of keeping two children and dozens of animals in poor living conditions.  Kentucky State Police report Shane and Angel Dufresne have been arrested on first-degree criminal abuse charges.  Authorities say the suspects were found under the influence of methamphetamine at their home on June 18th, with two and four-year-old kids present.  Ashley Bennett with Strays and Runaways Rescue says nine dogs, five cats and some chickens were also found at the property.  She is looking to find care for the animals, as Bath County has no animal shelter.

          A man and a girl are o.k. after getting lost in an abandoned mine in Martin County.  Rescue crews responded to a shuttered coal mine near the Lovely community on Sunday after family members said they had not heard from the pair since the night before.  Officials say the man and the child became disoriented after entering the mine with their dog and were unable to find the entrance, but the girl was eventually able to get through a narrow passage and call her mom on a cell phone.  Rescuers then widened that opening to allow the man and the dog to escape as well.

         ON THE RADIO NOVO NEWS HEALTHWATCH.......... The Kentucky Department for Public Health is now investigating 100 reports of cyclosporiasis.  Officials have confirmed 61 cases so far.  Cyclosporiasis is a digestive illness caused by food or water contaminated by the microscopic cyclospora parasite. Health leaders believe the current outbreak in the U.S. has been caused by contaminated produce, but the source has not yet been determined.  Officials are urging people to thoroughly wash all fruits and vegetables before eating them and to wash hands after handling produce.

        The Kentucky State Police are among the top finishers in this year's Best Looking Cruiser contest.  The agency landed at number five in the competition with over 16-thousand votes.  This means a photo of a KSP cruiser will be featured in the American Association of State Troopers wall calendar for 2027.  The Florida State Patrol came in first place with over 52-thousand votes.
