In 2018, he won the Peter Lisagor Award for best independent blog entry. In 2017, he was a finalist for the Lisagor Award for best non-deadline reporting in a newspaper or magazine. Evan is also an adjunct faculty member of DePaul University’s College of Communication.

Through friendship and love of comicbooks, two Latinos from Burbank and Blue Island Illinois came together to start up their own independent comicbook label, Sketch House Press. Ricardo Gonzalez and Enrique Reyes are the publishing and creative minds behind SHP. Since starting in April 2018, SHP has released its first book to great and fortunate success, La Chamba: Street Vendors Comicbook drawn and written by Ricardo. With SHP, these two friends have the chance to create characters and stories in an art form they love so much and spread the joy of comicbooks. Their second book, FREESTYLE: Comicbook Anthology Vol. 1, will be released in late July 2018 with both Ricardo and Enrique as artists on it and joined by eight other very talented artists.

Santiago currently resides in the city of Pilsen Chicago. Having been raised as a first generation Latino, Santiago was exposed to both Spanish and English music. His influences range from Jose Jose, Selena, and Wisin y Yandel to Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Jay Z. Santiago’s music draws inspiration from various artists and can be mostly described as melodic and soothing. His latest EP “Thanks To You” provides a mixture of both Reggaeton and Hip Hop music, with hit singles such as “Tattoos” and “Cai Otra Vez”. Santiago is currently in the process of releasing his music video for the single “Tattoos” which is expected to drop before the summer is over. Santiago’s mission is to provide a soundtrack for people’s experiences throughout life and to hopefully inspire others to spread positivity.

Shamika “Mika Luciano” Pierce is an American hip hop recording artist and poet from Chicago Illinois. Hailing from the city’s gang ridden west side, the hard spitting femcee acknowledges an early exposure to the street life. Heavily influenced by the rap culture around her, Mika Luciano displays hard hitting verses laced with a distinct style, unique versatility, and boggling lyricism. As an affilliate of “Goon Affiliated Business” (G.A.B), a team with a repertoire of hip hop, R&B, and Soul Mika Luciano first went public debuting their song “Blunts, Bottles, and Bi***es”. Tough, exciting, and sexy, and just when you thought you’ve had this Gemini figured out she shows exactly why she’s Naturally Bipolar.

Casual Hex is a psych revival band from Chicago. Pulling from a vast array of psychedelic and mod influences of the 1960s as well as the production value of modern psych bands such as Holy Wave and Mystic Braves, Casual Hex creates a sound that is both nostalgic and modern.
