  • Czech Comics from Ferda the Ant to Zátopek and Cecil’s Quest
For many years, comics in the Czech Republic was regarded as a genre for
children. To this day, most people will probably associate it with the
Four-leaf Clover, a popular children’s comic magazine, or the legendary
Rapid Arrows, which have enjoyed a cult following since its first
publication in the late 1930s to this day. But in recent years, comics has
made something of a comeback, establishing itself as a respected literary
    genre for adult readership.

  • Czechia Fighting Obesity
Like other industrial countries, Czechia is struggling to deal with the
problem of overweight and obesity. A recent report by the World Health
Organization showed that some 80 percent of Czech children are not getting

weeks Chapple’s stunning images have been shared hundreds of times on
social media and earned international media attention.

Administration and Regional Development has recommended the lower house to
change the amendment to the law on birth registers, names and surnames,
allowing women to have their say in the matter, despite the government’s
    disapproving stand.

  • What is EU’s strategy for the Eastern Partnership and how will it be affected by coronavirus?
Launched in Prague in 2009, the European Union’s Eastern Partnership
(EaP) is a policy project that seeks to build bridges and help support the
EU’ neighbours to the east – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia,
Moldova, and Ukraine. In March the European Commission published its plans
for the future of the project. I spoke to analyst Pavel Havlíček
from the Prague-based foreign policy NGO Association for International
Affairs who was part of a team that recently published a Visegrad Insight
study looking into possible EaP development scenarios about those plans and
how they may be affected by the coronavirus.
