  • Intentional Walk
An intentional walk occurs when the defending team elects to walk a batter on purpose, putting him on first base instead of letting him try to hit. Intentional walks -- which count as a walk for the hitter and a walk allowed by the pitcher -- are an important strategy in the context of a game. They can be used to put a runner on first base, setting up a potential double play. Listeners, today's podcast features Corey Harrington an inspiring man who had aspirations of playing professional baseball and due to some unfortunate experiences, made it as far as the minor league. But his story didn't end there. Listen as Coach Blu and Corey talk about the secrecy of addiction and the fear of letting other people know. Then metaphorically Intentionally walking into recovery by choosing to let others in. Personal accountability, a healthy dose of trust, and Corey has now been able to turn the mess into a message. • How Important is Family in Addiction Recovery
In any path to obtain sobriety from any addiction, the question is asked, how important of family support in addiction recovery? Today Coach Blu dives into family systems therapy, developing a home team, and processes this with Parham Nematollah, a licensed counselor with a master's degree in marriage and family therapy. Parham has been working in the mental health and addiction treatment space for over a decade and has great insight on how to involve the family in the healing process. Listen to his story and how he discovered for himself why family involvement can operate much like a team to achieve success in recovery and beyond. Listen as they talk about family systems in recovery, how do family members help and support an individual in active addiction and in recovery, and setting boundaries, and what enabling does.  Additional Information: Parham is the Chief Operating Officer at Buckeye Recovery Network. He has been coaching boys basketball at Aliso Niguel High School since 2008. These days he mostly works with student-athletes in a mental health/mental wellness capacity, with the intention to provide them with the tools needed to succeed on and off the basketball court.   More ways to connect: http://www.facebook.com/parhamnematollah https://www.instagram.com/the1minutet... http://www.linkedin.com/in/parhamnema... http://www.buckeyerecoverynetwork.com Please join Addict to Athlete’s Patreon support page and help us turn the mess of addiction into the message of sobriety! https://www.patreon.com/addicttoathlete For more information on Team Addict to Athlete and Addiction Recovery Podcasts please visit our website. https://www.AddictToAthlete.org
