The Loop, for listeners of this podcast not from Chicago, was an iconic rock and roll radio station since 1977 that just this weekend has had it's format changed due to being sold. When I was a kid, the Loop played many new bands that were just starting out and some that had been around a while but weren't getting airplay in Chicago.
