Not a lot in the local news this week, so time to listen to Andy and Kevin recalling the start of Raglan Community Radio in 1994. Also time to hear our former Raglan National MP, Marilyn Waring (1975-1984), speaking to Parliament today about the Treaty Principles Bill and how its claims to aim for equality are false when we start with inequality.

Another week of news, events and finishing off the century-old 1925 history - the recording mentions the 1925 pay rate of £96 a year for a postmaster and £250 a year for a station manager, but didn't calculate today's equivalent, which is about $11,500 and $30,000 a year respectively. We decided the quality would be too poor to have an outside broadcast with the New Year's Eve Parade, so instead the last half hour of Raglan Talking to Raglan was a commentary on the parade as it passed the radio studio. Prior to that the latest local news and events, plus an interview from the Morning Show, with Pine Campbell. After 23 years of RTR I still make mistakes, so apologies for the 7 minutes of silence, when I thought I'd left a series of recordings to play, whilst I went for a preview of the parade as they lined up on Wallis St. Apologies too for not recalling the history of the Raglan Caledonian Highland Pipe Band; it was formed In 1947.

Not much in the way of local news or events this week, except for two events trying to raise money to help Palestinians - an exhibition of local art at the Old School 10-2 each day to Saturday and on Sunday https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/paddle-the-points-for-palestine. Also another Morning Show interview, this one about the new bulk bin shop coming.

Waka Kotahi has had to drop its plan for a roundabout at Whatawhata, but doesn't want to publicise that safety now has a lesser place. It explains, "Safety remains a priority, embedded across all investments. Funding for this project has not been prioritised. Our focus is on delivering safe roading infrastructure, providing enhanced maintenance and resilience as well as increased support for enforcement. This means several safety projects have been reprioritised"! As well as other local news, there's also Morning Show interviews with local councillor Lisa and time to fit in the tribute to Malibu (who had the vision of restoring biodiversity on Karioi) from Kristel.

There's a Community Board meeting tomorrow, so a look at some of the things on that agenda, including aquaculture and a resource consent application for spat catching, a cycleway being extended at one end, but not the other, the lack of action from Waka Kotahi to allow bike racks on buses to be used again, the signs at the wharf about fishing and mention of a council meeting this morning, which revealed that an application to Fast Track the sewage consent didn't make it onto the government's list. Also Morning Show interviews with the chair of the Community Board and with Xtreme, including the problem of how to keep the litter bins from overflowing over the holiday period.
