As a former Department of Defense Education System teacher, Lisa Laniewski worked alongside her career Army officer spouse for over 23 years both in the US and abroad.

In 2014, dreams of an early semi-retirement for her and her husband, Lu, were shattered when their daughter, who had just turned 25 years old, passed away unexpectedly. Three months later, they were shocked by the untimely passing of the owner of Lu’s company and the subsequent dissolution of the business.

Suddenly, they found themselves mourning the loss of their only daughter and both unemployed!

This set both on a journey to learn more about this earthly life and what they could do to make the most of this experience.
