We want our sons to know they can come to us when they’re worried, hurting, or unsure what to do. But as they grow, there will be things they don’t share with us—and times when Mom simply won’t have the answer.
So will our sons know they can turn to God?
In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re talking about teaching our sons to pray and helping them build a relationship with God that becomes their own. Our boys need to know they can take their worries, decisions, fears, and needs to Him, even when they aren’t ready to talk about them with us.
We’ll talk about helping our sons know and trust God’s promises, teaching them to pray for wisdom and protection, and encouraging them when the answer to prayer isn’t what they expected.
As Christian moms raising boys, we won’t always know everything our sons are carrying. But we can keep reminding them that God does—and help them learn to turn to Him throughout every season of their lives.

Raising Boys with Purpose™ is a Christian parenting podcast for moms raising teen boys and young men. Sometimes the way boys joke with their friends can sound a little mean to us as moms. They tease each other, roast each other, and bring up things we might never dream of joking about—and somehow everyone is laughing.
Recently, I came across something called Benign Violation Theory, and as soon as I heard it explained, I recognized something I’ve seen many times in boys and male friendships.
In this Mom’s Perspective™ episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re looking at what Benign Violation Theory can teach us about teen boy humor, teasing between friends, and that sometimes-fine line between something being funny and something becoming hurtful.
Because understanding why our sons joke the way they do doesn’t mean anything goes. It can help us understand their friendships a little better while also helping our boys learn when a joke has crossed the line.

What kind of home are we creating for our sons—not just in the way it looks, but in the way it feels?
As women and moms, we have an opportunity to shape the atmosphere of our homes in ways we may not always recognize. And that doesn’t mean creating a spotless house, following the perfect routine, or adding another list of things we need to do.
In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re talking about how the everyday choices we make can influence the physical, emotional, and spiritual atmosphere of our homes. Because every family is different, creating a home where our sons feel loved, supported, and able to grow won’t look exactly the same for all of us.
If you’re a mom raising boys and trying to build a Christian home while preparing your son for adulthood, this episode is an encouragement to think about what matters most—and to recognize some of what you may already be doing well.
📖 Scripture: Proverbs 14:1 — “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”

Sports betting is everywhere. It’s in the games our sons watch, the podcasts and YouTube channels they follow, and the conversations happening around them. And as online gambling becomes more mainstream, are we stopping long enough to think about what that could mean for our sons?
In this Mom’s Perspective™ episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re talking about sports betting, online gambling, and why this is a conversation worth having with our teen boys and young adult sons.
But this isn’t about giving moms one more thing to worry about. It’s about understanding the world our sons are growing up in, helping them recognize potential pitfalls, and giving them the information and guidance they need to make wise choices as they move toward adulthood.
Because we can’t protect our sons from everything they’ll encounter—but we can prepare them to navigate it.

Have you ever had to find a new church home? Maybe you moved, your family’s needs changed, or you began wondering whether the church you’ve been attending is still the right place for your family.
Finding a church can feel like a big decision. No one wants to become an endless church hopper, but there are times when change may be necessary. And when we’re raising sons, we aren’t only considering what we need from a church—we’re also thinking about what our children need as they grow.
In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re talking about how to find the right church for your family, what to consider along the way, and why involving our sons in the process can matter more than we realize.
Because someday, our sons may be the ones searching for a church home.
How can we help prepare them for that decision now? How do we recognize when our family's needs have changed? And how can we approach the search prayerfully without feeling pressured to make a quick decision?
If you’re currently looking for a new church—or simply want to prepare your son to make faith-filled decisions as he grows into adulthood—this conversation is for you.
Take your time, Momma. Do your part, involve your sons as they grow, and trust God with the process.

Would you take an iced coffee to a job interview? ☕ A viral TikTok from a corporate recruiter has sparked quite a debate about whether showing up to an interview with coffee in hand looks unprofessional—or whether it should matter at all.
In this Mom’s Perspective™ episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, I’m sharing my thoughts on the iced coffee interview conversation and why there may be a bigger lesson here for moms raising teen and young adult sons.
As our sons prepare for their first jobs, internships, and careers, job interview preparation involves more than knowing how to answer interview questions. They’re learning how to make a strong first impression, understand workplace expectations, research a company, and decide whether a particular work environment is right for them.
So, is this really about the iced coffee? Let’s talk about it.

Why does your son keep trying at some things—but seem ready to give up on others?
Sometimes what looks like a lack of motivation may have more behind it. Past struggles and repeated failures can affect how our sons approach the next challenge, sometimes convincing them that trying won’t make a difference before they’ve really had a chance to find out.
In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re talking about learned helplessness in teen boys and how it can affect motivation, confidence, resilience, and a son’s willingness to keep trying. We’ll look at how moms can help their sons recognize these patterns, focus on what they can control, and develop the independence and judgment they’ll need as they prepare for adulthood.
But there’s another side to this conversation too. Perseverance is important, but does continuing to try always mean continuing down the same path? How can our sons learn when they need to push through a challenge—and when making a different decision might actually be part of growing up?
If you’re raising a teen or young adult son and wondering how to encourage perseverance without always stepping in to solve the problem, this conversation will give you something new to consider.
Because parenting is a learning experience too. We don’t know what we don’t know—but once we recognize something, we have an opportunity to respond differently.

What does being curious have to do with the way we raise our sons?
A Ted Lasso clip featuring the quote “Be curious, not judgmental” caught my attention. I haven’t even watched the show, but something about this particular scene made me stop and think about the quote from a parenting perspective.
In this short Mom’s Perspective™ episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, I’m sharing where that thought took me—and why I think this familiar quote gives Christian moms something worth considering as we raise our boys, build character, and prepare our sons for adulthood.

How do you trust God with your son’s future when you know you can’t always be there to protect him, guide his decisions, or know what’s happening in his life?
As our boys grow, our role as moms begins to change. We spend years loving them, teaching them, encouraging their faith, and preparing them for adulthood. But eventually, our sons begin making more of their own decisions—and we begin realizing just how much is outside of our control.
Whether your son is still young, becoming a teenager, heading to college, or already stepping into adulthood, you may find yourself worrying about his safety, his faith, the people influencing him, or whether he’ll be able to take care of himself.
So what do we do when those worries show up?
In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re talking about the changing role of a mom as her son becomes more independent, what it means to prepare him to become self-reliant, and where we can turn when the future feels uncertain.
Because preparing our sons for adulthood isn’t about controlling everything that comes next. There’s something much more important we can give them—and something we need to learn along the way too.

What if the behavior we see in our boys isn’t telling us the whole story?
After reading an NEA Today article about boys, education, and connection, one idea stayed with me: Sometimes we may be so focused on correcting what we see that we miss the opportunity to understand what’s behind it.
In this short Mom’s Perspective™, I’m sharing a few thoughts about accountability, listening to our sons, and an important question we may need to ask as we prepare them for greater independence: Does my son know that needing help isn’t the same thing as being incapable?

I’m Brooke—boy mom and Christ follower—and I know firsthand how challenging it can be to raise sons who are ready to launch into adulthood. For more than 25 years, I’ve walked the road of raising two boys, navigating the joy, the questions, the prayers, the mistakes, and the constant desire to guide them well. I researched, lost sleep, learned the hard way, and discovered that raising boys intentionally—with a plan—makes all the difference.
This podcast is here to encourage and equip you as you raise your son to become the man, God created him to be. Together, we’ll focus on building faith in God, responsibility, independence, discipline, resilience, and the real-life skills your son needs for a strong launch into adulthood.
Each week, you’ll find two types of episodes:
We’ll talk honestly about the challenges of raising boys in a noisy world, how culture views our sons, and how we can help them see themselves the way God sees them. And we’ll do it with truth, grace, encouragement, and a little humor—because motherhood needs that too.
If you’re ready to parent with intention, pursue the future God has for your son, and walk this journey alongside another mom who understands, you’re in the right place.
Grab your iced coffee—it’s time to start raising boys with purpose.
