Is an eye exam part of the DOT physical?

The longer answer is about what's part of the eye exam. Which is reading the eye chart, making sure that you can see colors and making sure your overall vision is within a normal limit.

Each eye needs to be 20, 40 or better. Both together and separately to pass the DOT physical. We need to make sure that you can see while you're on the road.

How often do I need a DOT physical?

That's the maximum length that a medical certificate can be issued. 

It could be issued for one year, if you're diabetic. 

If you have hypertension or you use sleep apnea machine, it could be less. It depends on what your needs are.

It could be three months, six months, 45 days, that's between you and your doctor.

The maximum of DOT medical center certification can be issued is for two years.

You need to make sure that you're maintaining your blood pressure within a reasonable limit as well as taking your medications as prescribed. When you come into the DOT physical, you need to bring the list of medications that you're on.

The normal limit is below 140 over 90. You need to maintain that for good health. With that, we will be happy to put you back on the road, happy and healthy.
