We rediscovered this foundation recently when we took a simple autumn walk. There was no grand agenda—just us, walking through golden leaves, holding hands. That day reminded us how the simplest moments of companionship create the deepest connections.  

 2. **Growth, Not Just Survival**  
A lot of people talk about marriage as “making it through the hard times.” While that’s true, marriage isn’t just about surviving challenges; it’s about growing through them. We’ve had seasons when our lives felt like uphill climbs, with work stress, family responsibilities, and changing priorities pulling us in every direction.  

But every challenge forced us to grow—individually and together. What helped us was learning not to see change as a threat. As we aged and shifted, we tried to grow toward each other, not away.  

3. **Allowing Space for Individual Joys**  
We’ve found that happiness within a marriage isn’t just about sharing everything but also giving each other space for personal passions. I have my daily walks—time to think, reflect, and explore new routes. Hema finds joy in her own ways, too, whether it’s a hobby or spending time with loved ones.  

Creating room for individuality made us appreciate each other more when we reconnect at the end of the day. The more complete we feel as individuals, the stronger we are as a team.  

 4. **Communication—Even When It’s Hard**  
One of the greatest challenges we faced was learning to communicate openly and without assumptions. There were times when we thought we knew what the other was thinking, only to find out later how wrong we were. Now, we remind ourselves: No one is a mind-reader.  

We also discovered that being honest isn’t just about sharing happy thoughts—it’s about talking through frustrations, doubts, and insecurities. If there’s one thing we learned late, it’s this: Unspoken resentment can quietly erode a relationship, but vulnerable conversation heals it.
