  • RankUp #10 – Knowledge Panel: Site Migration 101
As the RankUp podcast reaches double figures, we welcome Ian Humphreys back for his Knowledge Panel interview.

With over 10 years of agency experience behind him, Ian has recently started developing Impression's site migration offering. Site migrations can be huge projects that have a major impact on organic performance, and most SEOs will have to work through them at some point. It was the perfect topic to get Ian's thoughts on.

Over the course of Ian's interview, we cover questions like:

What do we mean by 'site migration'?When would you recommend (or not recommend) a site migration? How do you manage your involvement in the project and communication between different parties? What are some of the common SEO pitfalls to watch out for? What do you do if your site has a drop in rankings following a migration?

Ian speaks on all those topics and more in an interview that we think SEOs across all industries and backgrounds will find really helpful.

We also recommend looking out for more site migration material from Ian, who's been working on a project migration template that anyone can use.

To keep up with Ian, you can find him on Twitter: @IanHumph. Edd and I are also on Twitter at @BenJGarry and EddJTW.

We're excited to say that our first external guest will be appearing on the podcast next month! Look out for Kevin Kapezi of Experian, who'll be talking to us about in-house B2B SEO.

With over 10 years of agency experience under his belt, Ian now leads on multiple accounts at Impression and spearheads our site migration offering. He had a lot of great insights to contribute to our discussion on this month's topics:

  • RankUp #8 – Knowledge Panel: From PPC to SEO
Welcome to the eighth episode of the Rank Up podcast, a fortnightly on-page SEO podcast where we talk to experts about news, opinions and experiences from their time in SEO.

In this episode, Edd and I were joined by Helen Freeman: the only member of Impression's SEO team to have joined our PPC team as a graduate before moving across to SEO 18 months later. Helen had some awesome insights to share on what her initial experiences were in the first few weeks of her move.

We also discussed the topic of integration in digital marketing more generally, as well as what we in on-page SEO can learn from our paid media colleagues (and vice versa).

Edd and I really enjoyed speaking to Helen about her unique perspective, and we think it's an episode that digital marketers of all stripes will find valuable.

If you want to see more of Helen's work, you can find her on Twitter: @Digital_Helen. Edd and I are also on Twitter at @BenJGarry and EddJTW.

We'll be back in a couple of weeks with our Top Stories episode featuring Ian Humphreys, an SEO Strategist at Impression. In the meantime, please do drop a rating for us on your podcast app of choice - it really helps us out!

  • RankUp #7 – Top Stories: SEO for Gov Data, E-A-T & the 80/20 Principle
In this, the seventh episode of RankUp, Helen Freeman joins us as our guest for the month. Helen is the only person in Impression's SEO team to have moved across from our PPC team, and brought a unique perspective on the digital marketing industry, which we explored over two episodes.

This episode was another of our Top Stories editions, in which we discuss recent SEO news and opinions. There was a lot to choose from for this particular episode, but we settled on three topics that gave us a nice cross-section of theory and recent events. Here are the articles we discussed:

UK Government - Search engine optimisation (SEO) for data publishers: Best practice guide

Cyrus Shepard - Is Google E-A-T actually a ranking factor?

Nathan Ifill - Keyword Performance Report - Google Ads Script

Sean has been involved in the digital marketing industy for a number of years now, working in-house and at three different SEO agencies. He spoke to us about what has and hasn't changed in that time, including both SEO strategy and the way that agencies actually work.

  • RankUp #5 – Top Stories: Ecommerce Content, AI Text & Guest Posting
The fifth episode of the RankUp SEO podcast is the first in our new format! We've cut our recording sessions in half to bring you 45 minute episodes every fortnight, rather than one huge episode every month. We hope that the new format makes the podcasts easier to digest, especially when many of us still aren't on our regular commutes.

In this new format, we'll still have a guest speaker every episode, but the same guest will appear on both of the monthly episodes. The first episode of the month - like this one - will be our cheesily named Top Stories episode, featuring our monthly SEO news roundup. The second episode, released a couple of weeks later, will be our even more cheesily named Knowledge Panel episode focused on the guest's chosen SEO topic.

In RankUp #5, we welcome Sean Burton to the podcast! Sean is Impression's SEO team lead and has experienced the evolution of the search industry over a number of years through working at three different agencies in Nottingham. The articles that we discuss are:

In the meantime, we really appreciate any reviews and shares to help grow the show’s profile. We’d also love to hear any SEO questions you want to discuss on the show - you can get in touch with Ben and Edd on Twitter at @BenJGarry and @EddJTW.
