It's not all that often that someone comes along and catches attention with immediate effect. Katerina has found a home amidst the Comeme collective, the label and imprint run by Matias Aguayo. Having appeared previously with the odd track dotted here and there on compilations and split releases she is now ready to unveil a powerful 12" EP all of her own which punches with a sense of promise and intrigue. Living in Berlin but originating from Finland and Bulgaria she has amassed a sprawling collection of influences and this much is clear in both her production and dj sets. • Diamont Dancer: The 'Monday Is Okay' Mix
A little while ago we stumbled across a beautiful album by an unfamiliar duo - Diamont Dancer are made up of Pau Roca & Nacho Marco and have worked together to produce some of the finest in ambient, drone and experimental in recent times. Drawing influence from the likes of Brian Eno, Alessandro Cortini and John Carpenter they have captured a sound which sits somewhere between the ethereal and the haunting, it is dreamy in parts but comes not without a sinister twist.
This mix series was made very much with the purpose of showcasing music like this, Diamont Dancer as a perfect soundtrack to your Monday. Listen as they select music by Fennesz & Sakamoto, Biosphere, Sonic Youth and more.

  • Hot Air Episode: #31 Intergalactic Gary Talks To Joe Europe
Hello and welcome to another edition of the Hot Air podcast for the Ransom Note. This time around I spoke to a DJ who has dedicated his life to music since the early 80s. John Scheffer is a quiet and unassuming guy from The Hague, and you probably more likely to know him by his long term moniker Intergalactic Gary.
From his early days buying glam rock records back in the late 70s, John has immersed himself in collecting music, and began DJing in clubs in Holland in the 80s. But, he’s never been one to jump on the latest trends, and he’s always very much followed his own path. After he hooked up with I-F in the 90s and begun putting out twisted electro records as Parallax Corporation, Scheffer’s DJ career slowly began to blossom, and these days he’s travelling the world bringing his unique blend of warped disco and techno to dancefloors on a regular basis. With John coming to London to play Hypnodrive at Rye Wax on the 28th September, I caught up with him to chart his long and varied career. It was great to pick his brain about the early days of disco and Italo in the Netherlands, and he has a great story about how acid house finally took hold after a somewhat uncertain start.
Listen to the podcast, brought to you courtesy of Rode microphones whom without this would never have been possible...

The label has acted as a safe haven for those which dabble between the abstract, the experimental, electronic and classical music - it makes a perfect fit for the singular and wide ranging approach Matt Emery has applied to his musical expression. There is an element of intrigue as to what might come next for the up and coming musician but we feel excited by the prospect of a new avenue...
