  • Brian Not Brian: The Ransom Note Mix
This has been a long time coming, and probably overdue. Brian Not Brian is a well known and familiar face, as one of the founders behind Going Good he has been involved in an array of fine releases. Him and Sal have been responsible for distributing music by the likes of Nummer, Moon B, Cosmic Handshakes, The Mystic Jungle Tribe and a sprawling catalogue of others. As a disc jockey he is regarded in exceptionally high esteem, we aren't fans of the somewhat cliched "selectors" phrase but suffice to say he digs deep. Last year he appeared on our stage at Farr Festival alongside Jayda G and the pair of them just about took the roof off the stage.
We are delighted to have him finally deliver a mix for the site.

  • Hot Air Episode: #25 Marcos Cabral to Joe Europe
Hello and welcome to another episode of the hot air podcast for the Ransom Note. This time around we bring you a conversation from the exceptionally talented DJ and Producer Marcos Cabral. Marcos is probably best known for his many excellent releases with Ron Morelli’s L.I.E.S. records, but that’s only part of his story. His discography is deep and varied, with releases going back to 2003, and he’s been a key player in the rave scene in his native New York for even longer. This episode is short but sweet, and we cover some pretty varied territory including his early days as a teen disco DJ in a holiday resort, to running raves in his loft apartment in upstate New York, and the highs and lows of balancing a day job with a career in music. Marcos has just dropped a new record on Dimensions, which really showcases the breadth of his production style, so make sure you check that out.

  • The Wolf: The Ransom Note Mix
There's something to be said for a mix which takes you off guard, we receive a lot of submissions. However, when this one landed in the inbox there was a sense of intrigue behind the sender, a well versed producer and disc jockey who has been active in dance and electronic music for many years.
Based in Munich he first began to play records in 1987, hip hop and disco took the focus of his musical trajectory but this was soon to be replaced by house and the new wave of electronics which swept its way across Germany. During the nineties he ran a label alongside J.P Hulin called Global Rhythm Records - the music released fetches extravagant sums on Discogs and remains as relevant some twenty years later. Johnny O is The Wolf.
