Rants From The Black Lodge (Archive)

This month the Rant From the Black Lodge Podcast descend into the macabre mind of horror directing legend, Wes Craven with a retrospective of 1991's The People Under the Stairs. As we chronicle Wes Craven's urban fairy tale the Rant Army were lucky enough to enlist an introduction from "The Stairmaster" Yan Birch and a tribute to Wes Craven from Sean Whalen aka Roach.

Since the inception of the Rants From the Black Lodge Podcast one topic has been a constant. Ghostbusters, the 1984 supernatural comedy, although initially intended to be a stand alone film went on to birth one of animation's most popular series and today the Rant Army get REAL with  a retrospective of The Real Ghostbusters. Outmatched by the forces of the spirit world, the Rant Army need a REAL Ghostbuster to join the battle so thankfully Egon Spengler himself, Maurice LaMarche answered the call to provide an awesome introduction. Also, rounding out our team for this episode, Jason Fitzsimmons from ghostbustersnews.com stops by to reveal his favorite episode of the series.

In 1973 the landscape of horror was shaken to its core with release of what man consider the scariest film of all-time, The Exorcist. The macabre tale of family's descent in the wake of a child's possession by a demonic entity playfully known as "Captain Howdy" receives an extensive examination from the Rant Army. This episode also features, the devil herself, Eileen Dietz who stops by the Black Lodge for an amazing introduction to our hellish episode.

May of 2020 will mark the 40th anniversary of Mrs. Voorhees' long night at Camp Blood but being that we have an actual Friday the 13th on the calendar in March we gotta celebrate now.
Who better to enjoy the festivities of 40 years of slasher mayhem than with the original Jason Voorhees himself, Ari Lehman who provides an awesome intro to this episode.
Build a fire, roast some marshmallows, sit back and hear the Rant Army take a deep dive into the blood soaked waters of Crystal Lake and the original Friday the 13th film.

Our 3rd annual "Spend Valentine's with the Man of Your Dreams" Freddy Krueger extravaganza kicks off with an intro from "Horror's First Male Scream Queen" and star of Nightmare one Elm Street 2, Mark Patton. However, we couldn't possibly do "Freddy's Revenge" proper justice without and insightful interview from its director, Jack Sholder.
From there, the Rant Army dissect the misunderstood and most polarizing entry in the long running Nightmare on Elm Street series.

What better way to ring in 2020 than by getting "Buzzed" by an in-depth look into the often forgotten slasher, Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III with a special introduction from the film's star, William Butler. That in of itself would be an awesome way to start off the new year but we also have a full length interview with "The Bad Boy of Production Design" Mick Strawn. As always, Mick spins some hilarious yarns about his time spent on the sets of Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, Austin Powers and a can't miss story about Wesley Snipes during the filming of Blade.
This Double Fright Feature cannot be missed.

It's time to Rock and Roll over the holiday season with another KISSmas edition of the Rants From the Black Lodge Podcast focusing on 1999's stoner comedy classic "Detroit Rock City." However, KISSmas III is too big an event to bring to the Rant Army alone so this month we've enlisted the services of "The Metal Ambassador" himself, host of SiriusXM's Liquid Metal, Jose Mangin.
You wanted the best, you got the best. The hottest podcast in the world- RANTS FROM THE BLACK LODGE!

The Room, Oversexed Rugsuckers From Mars, Manos: The Hands of Fate or Plan 9 From Outer Space. These films are all worthy contenders to the title of "Best Worst Movie" but only ONE can reign supreme in this craptastic pantheon of so bad it's good cinema... that film is Troll 2! This month, joining the ranks of the Rant Army, none other than NIlbog's favorite father, George Hardy.
Fasten your seat belts because this deep-dive double-feature of Troll 2 and it's tremendous documentary Best Worst Movie is bound to go off the rails.

The lawsuit between writer, Victor Miller and director, Sean Cunningham has seemingly buried the Friday the 13th film franchise six feet under but Jason Lives!... through content created by fans like Ben DeAtley from the Friday the 13th Network on Youtube. Ben stops by the black lodge to share his two cents on the fan film to end all fan films, Never Hike Alone. However, a Never Hike Alone episode would be nothing special without  it's director and star Vincente DiSanti who was kind enough to stop by for an interview in the black lodge.
