It has been Matt's dream to surf in the Eddie and Jaw's events in Hawaii for as long as he can remember. He has been invited before but they never ran.

He has now been invited again and this year the chance is fairly high that they will go ahead. Unfortunately though, Matt recently suffered two horrific injuries that would put most people in bed for a long time and they would not even consider big wave surfing! Not Matt though, he is going for it!

We dive into the two incidents that happened and what he is up against if the events go ahead!

Surf alone Die Alone - Dougal Paterson.

My guest today is a South African big wave charger, spearfisherman, mentor, family man and plenty more.

He is a regular at two of Africa's most fearsome waves: Dungeons and Sunset Reef.

We hear first hand how Dougal found his way into surfing and how it evolved into the giant waves he rides today.

He walks us through some wild stories and times that he experienced at Dungeons, Sunset Reef and abroad, including some incredible rescues and how he helps mentor the next generation of big wave chargers.

Not only is Dougal an incredible surfer and storyteller but he is also an incredible photographer and documentary film maker. He gave us some insights into the most recent film he created with Rick Wall called 'and yet, I remain' about shark attack survivor Caleb Swanepoel.
