    Today is Indians Radio Week Day 1, and Ray Horner is rubbing elbows with everyone at the Cleveland Indians spring training facility in Goodyear, Arizona. On the first day, Ray sat down with several members of the Tribe, both players and staff.

    :17 - This Jussie Smollett situation has been the most interesting and polarizing story in 2019….at least since Covington Catholic from a few weeks back. Ray and Tony talked about the Empire actor getting fingerprinted over what has become a hate crime hoax, as well as how much time he may serve for this.
    8:54 - College football is big business, but how big is it for the non-Ohio States and Alabamas of the world? Malone University has cut their football team to save money. What about D1 schools that aren’t top-tier, like the Akron Zips? Dr. John Green, interim president at the University of Akron, talked about the importance of a school’s football program, both on the field and off.
    19:29 - February 22nd is National Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day. Sue Peschin is the president and CEO for the Alliance of Aging Research joined the show to raise awareness for proper heart health.
    23:47 - It’s a surprisingly slow weekend at the movie houses, especially with the Oscars happening this Sunday. Our movie guy Scott Wynn joined the show, as he usually does on Fridays.
    26:36 - Big matchup in girls hoops on Monday. Andy Booth, head coach of the Wadsworth Lady Grizzlies basketball team, joined the show to preview.

    :17 - Wednesday afternoon was the State of the City address from Mayor Dan Horrigan, which was heard live on 1590 WAKR from the John S. Knight Center. He happened to stop by the WAKR studios to recap what he mentioned in the address.
    9:27 - We’re almost a full season removed from LeBron James, and Quicken Loans Arena is going through a massive facelift. Could this be the right time for Dan Gilbert to see the Cavaliers? Ray and Tony discussed not only that hypothetical, but whether or not pro teams should expand or contract.
    23:45 - As mentioned on yesterday’s show, this week marks 30 years of what we know as the Internet. But for every positive that comes from the world wide web, there’s plenty of scary negatives. SACS Consulting president and CEO Tim Dimoff joined the program to talk about what’s called the dark web.
    33:07 - Hoban girls basketball coach Scott Callahan joined the program to not only hype his Knights team that takes on Barberton, but went over the other matchups in the region.

    :17 - This week marks 30 years of the thing we call the Internet. The panel talked about what radio, or life in general, was like without this device.
    12:51 - Happening on Sunday at the Canton Palace Theatre is Love Letters, a play starring I Dream of Jeannie’s Barbara Eden and Barney Miller’s Hal Linden. Hal talked to Tony Mazur about the production, as well as his years starring on Barney Miller.
    27:28 - Today is the Mayor Dan Horrigan’s State of the City Address, but another community to the west is having theirs tonight, as well. Wadsworth mayor Robin Laubaugh called into the show to go over her city in 2018 and looking ahead to the rest of 2019, which includes a lot of positive development both downtown and elsewhere.
    39:47 - One of the baseball dominoes fell on Tuesday, as former Oriole and Dodger Manny Machado heads to San Diego on a 10-year, $300 million deal. How will this change the league? And does this mean the beginning of the end for someone like Francisco Lindor, who’ll garner as much or more cash from a team in two years?

    :17 - The 2016 election doesn’t seem so long ago, and now we’re already looking at 2020. It was announced this morning that Bernie Sanders will join the seemingly countless supply of Democratic candidates, so Ray, Jeanne, and Tony chatted about the ever-changing progressive field.
    15:52 - At the all-star break, the Cavaliers are a whopping 12-46 on the season. The voice of the Cavs, John Michael, joined the show to talk about the team overall, Coach Larry Drew, and the landscape of the NBA.
    36:04 - Tuesday is tax day, at least for us on the Ray Horner Morning Show. Doug Klein stopped by to go over some small business tax tips.
    45:45 - And finally, our Browns guy Fred Greetham gave us a taste of the offseason and what John Dorsey has on his plate.

    :17 - Today is Presidents Day, and Ray and Tony brought up some factoids about presidents from years gone by, as well as their most and least favorites. Ray is a fan of Teddy Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan, and Barack Obama, while Tony enjoyed Calvin Coolidge and had less-than-favorable things to say about Woodrow Wilson.
    7:59 - It was announced Friday than Akron Public Schools superintendent David James has been appointed to the Board of Trustees at the University of Akron. James mentioned how proud he is to have a solid working partnership between Akron Public Schools and the university.
    18:30 - Also announced Friday is the contract extension for soccer coach Jared Embick at Akron. Embick spoke to Ray about his time so far with the Zips, and how he helped make them one of the best soccer programs in the country.
    24:02 - Dr. Gary Riggs usually talks about your pets, but what about your veterinarians? How does the care differ?
    35:02 - And finally, it’s Monday, and it’s time for our Business of the Week! Ray talked with James Eckman from Inman Productions LLC about his photography studio.

    :17 - We began Friday’s show quite light, talking about our favorite TV show spinoffs. Frasier, The Jeffersons, Maude, and the many Law & Orders and CSI’s were all mentioned.
    8:46 - Summa Health System has a new campaign to support patient care, which is called “Caring For You...Then, Now, Always.” President and CEO of Summa, Dr. Cliff Deveny, called into the show to talk about the company’s mission.
    15:33 - Indians all-star hurler Trevor Bauer won another arbitration case and will make $13 million in 2019. But according to reports, Bauer believed the arbitrators used “character assassination” in their case against him. Ray and Tony broke down what happened and how the Tribe will look in the upcoming season.
    28:08 - It’s that time of year where we get our houses and living spaces in order for the spring season, and the Home & Garden Show at the John S. Knight Center is the perfect place for inspiration. John Goch, the CEO of PROPS Consulting and host of our Saturday show Remodelers Roundtable, stopped by to answer some questions.

    :17 - It’s been one year since the shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Unfortunately, we’ve seen several school shootings since then, but this one in particular has stood out in recent memory. SACS Consulting & Investigative Services president and CEO Tim Dimoff was actually in Parkland recently, and he joined the show to discuss what has changed security-wise since then.
    7:23 - Green mayor Gerard Neugebauer and fire chief Brian Lloyd stopped by the studio to touch on Green’s new community paramedic program for seniors.
    14:12 - It sounds like an agreement to keep funding the government will happen, even if both parties are not excited about what is in the bill. Dr. David Beer from Malone University talked about the extension of government and the money towards building more wall on the border.
    23:03 - Pitchers and catchers have reported to camp, and Indians broadcaster Jim Rosenhaus reports to the Ray Horner Morning Show. Rosenhaus talked about the Francisco Lindor injury and who will replace him, especially with numerous free agents on the couch waiting for a call.
    32:03 - In these cold winter months, what are some classic TV shows to binge-watch on a snowy weekend? The panel brought up theirs, which included Columbo, Golden Girls, Cannon, and Taxi.

    :17 - Sportswriter and author John Feinstein stopped through town, and he joined the show in studio today. Ray and John talked about the tournament heading to Firestone Country Club that will replace the Bridgestone Invitational, as well as the state of the NBA, the life of Frank Robinson, and Coach K.
    8:33 - Mayor Dan Horrigan released his budget for 2019, and he talked about the impact Issue 4 will have on the city. Horrigan also talked to Ray about the cyber attack from weeks back and Russ Neal’s idea for a cloud-based system.
    15:59 - It’s 2019, and the perception and stigma of marijuana isn’t what it used to be. In fact, it seems to be more accepted in the culture now. But can it be a gateway drug, or is alcohol still the cause and effect? The panel debates.
    33:33 - The All-American Soap Box Derby isn’t just about making a car and rolling down a hill. They’ve been very innovative as far as getting students interested in STEM and other after school programs, which is what Derby president and CEO Mark Gerberich mentioned this morning.

    :17 - The Cleveland Browns have signed former Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, who also went to Willoughby South High School and the University of Toledo. Why is he a former Chiefs running back? There was an incident of physical violence towards a female inside a Cleveland hotel room in 2018, and as soon as the video was released, the Chiefs cut him loose. The panel (which includes Jeanne and Steffany) sounded off on the signing and why the Browns would bring such a PR hit on themselves.
    19:13 - We’re a couple of weeks removed from the cyber attack that hit the city of Akron, so what is the solution? A cloud-based service? According to councilman Russ Neal, that may be in the works.
    25:20 - It’s Tuesday, and our tax guy, Doug Klein, joined the program to go over tax credits.
    33:20 - The Buchtel boys basketball team keeps rolling this year. Head coach Matt Futch talked about his Griffins and the possibility of a shot clock in high school basketball.
