Throughout life, we begin to wear masks to protect ourselves. We think we have to "play the part" so we don't get hurt or so we can fit in. Lisa King, an international and TedX speaker, helps us understand some of the masks we wear and how we can safely remove them.
Sarah is a world traveler. In fact, as of this episode, she has been to 121 countries!! She shares a few of her experiences around the world and how a particular trip helped her become authentic with herself. She is very relatable towards the end as she shares some behavior she turned to in an attempt to overcome her emotional pain.
Many times, at the base of our limiting beliefs is the belief that we are not good enough, so why try? Dustin shares some valuable tools (learned from the book of Joshua) to help you know that you ARE good enough!
I am pleased to be joined by Bobby Berg. He is also a podcast host and has a lot of energy and enthusiasm as he teaches us how to overcome frequent anger. There may be something behind it that needs to be discovered and addressed.
In this episode, I remind every one why I created this podcast. Since my experience shows that most people don't talk about emotional pain, while at the same time most everyone experiences it, I created a place where people would feel comfortable sharing their story and hearing the stories of others. I invited Jordan to join to tell us how he has seen emotional pain affects those he works with. He works with men from all walks of life, from correctional facilities to large corporate positions, and from no high school diploma to doctorates. Jordan gives us good advice on what to do if we feel emotional pain.
Stephanie McCauley, a young professional and founder of a young adult community "Unbenched" shares her perspective on emotional pain. Emotional pain is the feeling of discomfort that persists when you have unresolved emotions. Emotional pain can come from anywhere - it doesn't have to be from a traumatic experience. Since we all experience emotional pain, it is good to hear each other's experiences so we can learn we aren't alone and we can get through it.
We can affect the "luck" we have by the habits we create. Jamie competed as a professional skier and on April 11, 2015, she crashed at world tour finals and fell into a coma. Rather than be called "lucky" that she recovered from brain injuries, she shares wisdom on how to create "controlled luck" by the habits we build.
Resilience is a learned skill. Emotions don't have to be good or bad - they are what we choose them to be and they can all teach us something. Emotions are a part of life. We can learn, and it is important to learn, how to process those emotions and move on from tough experiences.
Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. Tamara and I discuss resources available as well as what we can do to take care of our mental health.
Throughout life, people may say things to us that really hurt. Or maybe we had a tough experience that we are still dealing with today. You can change your story and learn to move on from the past. You can choose which voices you listen to.
