Often, when people use the terms “never” and “always” they are exaggerating. For example, I’m from Portland, Oregon, where it rains often. But almost daily, I hear someone exaggerate by saying “it always rains in Portland” or “we never see the sunshine.” Of course, it doesn’t always rain. And the sun does come out. In our lives, “never” and “always” are used for expression, but with God, they’re used to explain the truth.
The Bible says that God will never leave us. Psalm 9:10 says, “Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.” And at the same time, God promises to always be with us. There is nothing we could do to make God love us any less. Nothing! Never!
As you think about your life, consider the constants. Is there anything that is truly an always or never? I doubt it. Jesus is the only person who offers us unconditional love, no strings attached, all the time.
If you haven’t opened your heart up to the Lord Jesus, I encourage you to do so today. And if you have, share this truth with others in your life. Talk to someone today about Jesus, who is always present, who never leaves us.
