The Secret Weapon of Warfare

Humility and submission work against divisions and strife, which divide the church and prevent it from standing. If we intend to be victorious in the battle to reclaim planet Earth, the key will be learning submission. If we don’t, we will find God a fearsome opponent. No amount of training in submission—learning the strength of family, the power of servanthood, the ability of a devoted bride—can mitigate the fatal error of pride. The good news is that if we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of the Creator, no weapon formed against us will stand.

Arise My Beloved

Two millennia ago a healing began. As C.S. Lewis put it, God had “landed on this enemy-occupied world in human form.”[1] At the cross, the veil of separation was shredded as the “Spirit of life in Christ Jesus” burst into the perishing human heart. For twenty centuries that same Spirit has been applying the healing balm of restoration that is submission.

Chapter three of Marriage Rx - Prescription for a radical marriage, has a provocative title, "Naked and Unashamed," but it doesn't have to do with clothing. Rather, it speaks to the importance of transparency in our relationship with God and one another. Welcome to the third installment of Read Between the Worlds audio book episodes.

This chapter discusses one of the most important skills in any marriage: forgiving, being forgiven and practicing reconciliation. Far from the silly old aphorism, "love means never having to say your sorry" forgiveness is perhaps the most vital component of a loving relationship.

The way we relate together determines what kind of relationship we have. We experience and demonstrate oneness as we treat each other with love. This is the mystery of  merging two separate identities into one, and it only happens through the bond of love. Chapter 5 explores the kinds of relating in a marriage and how to discover the healthiest way of sharing identity.

Trust is the very essence of love-based relating, as we explored in the previous chapter. God is love. We love each other because He first loved us. When we love each other we are expressing the pure character of God. Love and trust go hand in hand, and together they overcome fear.
