In this episode, we’re going to read Peck: A Lonely, Little Lovebird Down Under, written by Remi Nicole, a communications executive whose current writing focus is children's books, which she creates in hopes of bringing joy and love to children and families around the world.

 

A little lovebird named Peck lives happily in Australia with his animal friends until he started longing for someone to share his life with. Peck decides he must travel to a faraway land to find what he seeks, but the long journey taught him many things. It’s a memorable tale that will enhance children’s creativity and teach morals.

Sophia is excited for her first day at her new school. She has a new dress, new shoes, and a new hairdo. Her mom has combed Sophia’s hair into cornrows with blue and white beads to match her dress. She loves hearing the beads in her hair hit together, like tiny wind chimes.

When she arrives at school, Sophia discovers her hair is different from the other girls’ hair. The children are curious about Sophia’s cornrows, and one even seems to tease her. Sophia is sad; she begs her mom to style her just like her friends.
