Reader's Entertainment Radio

From award-winning author, Gary Shelly, comes a story that simply must be told...  Dying to Give

The phone call informing Sarah Nealle that her six-year-old daughter, Amy, has been in a school bus accident sends her on a journey she could never have imagined nor planned for.

Doctors. The ICU. An epidural hematoma. Respirators. Apnea tests. Nationwide publicity. A mogul who wants to buy her daughter's heart. The grieving mother on television begging for a liver to save her son. Hospitals that fight over a first-grader's body. Relatives seeking revenge. A conspiracy to end organ transplants. The hero who can't save his own son.

A ninety-two-year old who brings wisdom and peace, together with a reporter who reveals her own story.

Then, the lonely decision of how to let her daughter die with dignity and perhaps fulfill a mission Amy would've volunteered for.

Will her family provide support? Might those who wait for organs applaud? Can someone who faces this impossible choice in the future learn from her? Would Amy be proud?

How does one measure what is best and what is not when nothing makes sense?

Meet retired cardiac surgeon Dr. Thomas Berger as he talks about his thriller novel Dueling in Death's Backyard.

And only a cardiac surgeon with the skills of a Faulkner award winning writer could bring readers not just into the O.R. but into the heart itself to share that cosmic experience. In Dueling in Death’s Backyard, Thomas J Berger, MD – trained by Dr. John Kirklin, the true Father of Cardiac Surgery -- does exactly that and does it in the context of a medical murder mystery exposing a VA hospital scandal from decades before they became front page news.

Cooper was obsessed with becoming a cardiac surgeon -- stopping hearts and pitting his scalpel against Old Grim’s scythe right there in Death’s backyard. Most doctors spend their lives avoiding such situations. Only Cooper, and other cardiac surgeons, live to fight on that mystic battlefield for the life of every patient.

Culture shock and hospital politics threaten Cooper’s chances for success, but with Holt’s help he is on track to complete his residency. Then, conflict with a drug addicted nurse and her powerful protector get Cooper fired. His lover dumps him and it seems that things couldn’t get much worse. Then they do. The druggy nurse is murdered and Cooper is framed for the crime. Dr. McDuff seems to want to help but has his own secret agenda. To save his dream and his life, Cooper must unravel a mystery decades older than he is, and solve a murder in the process.

“Gently Cooper...caress her. The coronary is a women...caress her with the

scalpel and she will open herself for you.”

Hold on to your riding hats and goggles, readers! Multimedia storyteller, writer, director, producer, composer, designer, engineer, and student,Tom Libertiny is back on 11/17 at 6pm EST! Tom joins me to chat about the second book in his wildly successful Steampunk trilogy, Null Paradox. Of course his latest novel, Victoria and Seth, is complete with its own sountrack. In fact, its music producer, Grammy Award Winner, and the most recorded drummer in the world, John "JR" Robinson, joins Tom to discuss the Null Paradox music . JR Robinson has worked with legendary artists like Rufus and Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones, the late Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Madonna, Daft Punk, and Pharrell...and believe me that is just the tip of the iceberg.  John "JR" Robinson's motion picture credits are just as extensive as his hits and jingles.

Book two in the Null Paradox Trilogy Victoria and Seth, continues where Gertrude and Grace left off, but also brings to the forefront the characters of Victoria and Seth–the closest of friends until one day, Victoria simply vanishes.

Debra Parmley chats with #1 Bestselling Author, Andrew Peterson about A Right to Kill, the sixth book in The Nathan McBride series featuring the "brutally effective" trained Marine Corps sniper and CIA operations officer, Nathan McBride. He and his former spotter own and operate a high-tech private security company. Listen in as Debra chats with Andrew about writing the series, shooting competitively, and taking chances.

Book Blurb:

When a team of commandos—highly skilled and armed to the teeth—tries to kidnap retired CIA station chief Linda Genneken from her home, trained Marine Nathan McBride and his partner, Harvey Fontana, arrive just in time to join the fight. But their well-honed CIA instincts tell them this is only the beginning.

McBride and Fontana set out to learn who ordered the midnight raid, and why. Is it connected to a rescue mission they conducted with Genneken in South America—a mission that nearly killed McBride? Is it related to the string of assassinations happening simultaneously in that area of the world? Or both?

With the help of their CIA contacts and aided by Genneken, the two men unravel a criminal plot with global implications. And as their race to find answers unspools in six supercharged hours, McBride and his team will be tested like never before.
