She is a life-long learner who wears many hats and has a wealth of experience as a classroom teacher, an educational researcher, the Council of International Schools accreditation and visitation teams, and an IB and NEASC program trainer. She is a woman of faith and an advocate for social justice and believes that nothing is ever a coincident but a GOD-incident.

This week, I catch up with an inspirational Educator, a wahine toa and tama’itai Samoa. She is a huge advocate for our young people and a leader in creating initiatives to promote achievement, engagement, learning pathways and leadership opportunities for our Pasifika students.  After 7 years of teaching at Avondale College in West Auckland, she has taken on a new role as a Teaching Fellow at Otago University’s Higher Education Development Centre.

She shares stories about her love for dancing, the inspirational movement that is Ura Tabu Pacific Dance, and how from a very young age she dared to dream that one day she would be able to compete in a Miss Sāmoa pageant. This dream came to fruition in July this year when she was crowned Miss Sāmoa New Zealand, and then she had the opportunity to travel back to our homeland to represent our Sāmoan communities in Aotearoa at the Miss Sāmoa pageant.
