Is it assumed in your school that new teachers will do all the "extra" teacher stuff such as chaperoning dances, concerts, sporting events, advising clubs, joining committees, etc? It's very easy to tell someone to just "say no," however in this episode I talk about the very REAL FEELINGS of why it's sometimes hard for new teachers to say no to the extra teacher stuff. Student behavior can be a daunting topic, especially as a new teacher. We think about all of the possible behavioral situations that can occur and wonder how to handle each one.
