This
week we are talking to Amy Monson
Amy was
born and raised in a small farming community in rural Minnesota. After 18 years of that, she wanted to see the
world, so she joined the MN Army National Guard. She sure did see the world; she ended up with
a 20-year career and three over-seas deployments: Kosovo 2003-04, Iraq 2005-07,
and Afghanistan 2011-12. Believe it or
not, Afghanistan was where she found her interest in Agriculture and decided to
go back to school. She received her BS
in General Agriculture with a minor in AG Education from North Dakota State
University in 2015. She found out she
really enjoyed school, so she thought it would be a great idea to continue, and
she applied to Graduate School. She graduated in 2017 with a Master’s Degree in
Education.
She was an
Agriculture teacher in the public education system for less than a year when
she decided that was not a place, she wanted to be long term. So she quit, staying at home with her three
kids.
In June of
2018, she retired from the MN Army National Guard after a 20-year career. This was very difficult for her, but it was
time to move on to her next chapter in life.
She and her
husband adopted three kids in December of 2015. They are great kids but have
some special needs. She started
researching the KETO Lifestyle for herself and found the great benefits it
offered not only her but also the kids. She
is very passionate about the Keto Lifestyle, which is why she became a
Certified Ketogenic Living Coach so she could help others achieve their goals
using this lifestyle.
She
struggled with her weight and mood most of my adult life. She has tried it all…counting points, drinking
shakes, magic pills, even lasers that claim to melt your fat away in just
minutes a day. One thing after another,
she was chasing after something that could have worked, but it was not a
sustainable lifestyle by any means. At her
heaviest, she was 202 pounds on a frame that was only 5′ 8″.
She was miserable in her own body, with
no hope in sight. This is the point in
the story where she is supposed to tell you how she found Keto, and her life
changed, but that is not the case. She
instead got deployed to Iraq for what turned into 22 very long months. When she was there, she was able to find running
and used it to reduce stress. Well, it
reduced her weight by 30 pounds too!
After returning home, life hit her again, and all the weight crept back on little by little. She still went to the gym, with no weight loss. She thought she was eating healthy, but fell of the wagon over and over. Then, she found Keto and started researching how and why it worked. She got a coach, and the weight just started coming off, and she felt like a million bucks! She was happy with her progress and couldn’t wait to tell anyone, and everyone that would listen to her new found “miracle”!
