Welcome to “Real Life After 70”
A podcast related to thriving at any age.
This is Real Life After 70 – Episode 17
My name is Mike Reynolds. I’m your host for this and each episode.
Living the Dream: Enjoying the Campfire!
Our winter travels continue. Join me as we discuss our journey across the good old USA. We are now in Nevada at Lake Mead. As we go about our lives, we are facing many challenges. We are challenged to wake up and interact with others. It is up to us to create the life that works for us. Sometimes what we think is going to be a simple task becomes an extremely frustratingexperience. I have been distracted by several projects that are important but take me away from creating regular podcast episodes. I hope to be much more consistent as we go forward. This is a continual battle for me.
Today I share with you some of my experience with living a somewhat nomadic life. It’s mostlyfun and rewarding, but sometimes it can be challenging. It has been almost 2 months since we left Maine. We are currently at Boulder Beach Campground on the shore of Lake Mead not far from the Hoover Dam.
We will inevitably face some challenges along this journey of self-fulfillment. Todaywe’ll discuss some of those challenges and how to surmount such obstacles.
Some high points on our day trip to Grand Canyon West: The ride from US 93 to the Grand Canyon was about 40 miles of mostly open land until we hit the area of Joshua trees. There were millions for as far as I could see. The vastness of the Grand Canyon itself is beyond description, making this a memorable experience. On the sad side, we did see 3 dead cattlebeside the road.

Living the Dream: We’re on the move!
Our wintertravel s continue as we have arrived in Nevada. Currently camping at BoulderBeach Campground on the shore of Lake Mead. This is just a short distance from the Hoover Dam.
As we go about our lives, we are facing many challenges. We are challenged to wakeup and interact with others. It is up to us to create the life that works for us. Sometimes what we think is going to be a simple task becomes an extremely frustrating experience. I have been distracted by several projects that are important but take me away from creating regular podcast episodes. I hope to be much more consistent as we go forward.
Today I share a brief episode about staying at Boulder Beach Campground on the shoreof Lake Mead. We will inevitably face some challenges along this journey of self-fulfillment.Today we’ll discuss some of those challenges and how to surmount suchobstacles.
Dashed Expectations harm ourselves and our relationships. We overcome this by relinquishing control over anything outside of ourselves.
Criticism and judgement from friends and family is a fear that many of us share. We can overcome this and it gets easier and easier as we go forward.
Learning something new is a constant struggle. Whether it’s technology or terminology, we can learn what we need to. Asking for help opens up new avenues.

Organize, organize, and organize some more. The excitement of heading back on the roadinvolves a lot of “getting ready” tasks. It’s all part of moving on, and we all have to do that sometime.
As we go about our lives, we are facing many challenges. We are challenged to wake up and interact with others. It is up to us to create the life that works for us. Sometimes what we think is going to be a simple task becomes an extremely frustrating experience. I have been distracted by several projects that are important but take me away from creating regular podcast episodes. I have found a few ways that seem to help me spend some time on my long-term goal.
Today I share with you some of my experience with living a somewhat nomadic life. It’s mostly fun and rewarding, but sometimes it can be challenging. Right now, we’re organizing for our departure from our home base in Maine. The plan is to leave shortly after the Labor Day holiday. Our first stop will involve a short travel day of less than 200 miles. Going forward we hope to travel around 350 miles per travel day. Spending some time at certain stops.
We will inevitably face some challenges along this journey of self-fulfillment.Today we’ll discuss some of those challenges and how to surmount suchobstacles.

As we go about our lives, we are facing many challenges. We are challenged to wakeup and interact with others. It is up to us to create the life that works for us. Sometimes what we think is going to be a simple task becomes an extremely frustrating experience. My life partner and I have both been attempting to set up new doctor relationships in the area that we now use as our home base. I am finding it incredibly frustrating dealing with our medical community. Care for our teeth, eyes and the rest of our body just doesn’t seem to be possible withoutan extremely long wait.

Do we really create our own lives and therefore our suffering?
Can we change our perspective and end our suffering?
We will inevitably face some challenges along this journey of self-fulfillment. Today we’ll discuss some of those challenges and how to surmount such obstacles.
