The story of the wise men is a story that has been told so often that it has the potential to turn into something like the city in which you live. You can barely see it or hear it anymore. This sermon seeks to give the story a fresh hearing pointing the listener to God’s wisdom found in Bethlehem and explaining the way a person can get there.

This sermon explores the doctrine of the incarnation in Titus 2. It then explains how that truth moves into our lives in three different ways. Merry Christmas, world!

We continue our sermon series on the historic readings of Advent. We look today at the opening words to the book of Romans. We see Paul flesh out the gospel and meditate on what it is and what it means for Christians at Christmas time.

The Church selected this lesson that’s all about suffering for the time just before Christmas. Why? Christmas can be such a painful time of year. We stare at the dysfunction in our families. We mourn people we have lost. This Scripture teaches how to be patient during all the waiting we’re doing for restoration right now.

Today this church celebrates five years of history. This sermon has the goal of showing how Christ comes into history to turn it into the gift that it is. It does that by looking at how history can be challenging; how it can be redeemed; and what the ultimate hope of history is.

How do you have the perfect marriage? How do you establish world peace? How do you abolish world hunger, poverty, and injustice? Love your neighbor as yourself. It’s that easy. It’s also that hard. This sermon explores that simple command and with the gospel of Jesus empowers it.

Joy is a powerful feeling. Too many times though we fail to understand just how powerful it can be. Too many times this causes our joy to function as a bubble coming off a bubble wound that pops at the least disturbance. What if joy could be larger and stronger and tougher? What if we could experience joy all the time everywhere? This is a sermon that empowers that to happen.

This sermon examines Zechariah’s final night vision. He saw two bronze mountains. What are those mountains? He also saw chariots going out. Why were they going out? And what is the talk with all the crowns in the explanation of the vision? This sermon explores those questions and asks the listener to hang on until Christ rules as King.

What is with the women who have stork wings? What does that mean? Why is there a basket? What’s that signify? This sermon works through the meaning of this stunning, bizarre vision of Zechariah. It shows how the vision prefigures the second coming of Christ and how it can impact the lives we live even now.

Peace is in a sermon series examining the night visions that the Lord gave to his prophet Zechariah. Along the way, we have been examining the unique way that God has shaped Peace as a church to be an instrument in his service. Today we examine through this sixth vision our final value that we hold dear as a church: cultural sensitivity. We do that with the prayer that we might love people with the truth and by the truth set people free.
