God had placed Esther at the right place at the right time. He’s done the same for you. Will you answer the call? This is a sermon that examines the place of your purpose, the threat on your purpose, and the power that powers your purpose. There is a whole lot more ambiguity in life than we often like to admit to ourselves. This can be especially hard for Christians who want to live lives of light for the Lord. When you live in Persia though… sometimes there are you in the mud of it all. This is a sermon that seeks to show a biblical and Christ-centered path forward in situations that seem painfully ambiguous.

We begin our journey into the book of Esther. We look at this Persian King. We get a look at the marginalization of Christians. We think about ways in which we might be tempted to enter the world of Xerxes badly and one true way we might be able to enter seeing Jesus as The True King.

What does it look like to be a lost person? In this story Jesus describes lostness in a way that few people expect. It’s surprising. Listen in to hear the real focus of Jesus’ teaching in the famous parable of The Prodigal Son. And, more than that, hear and believe the Father’s invitation to come to the party.

There’s a powerful image in this verse of an immovable person. You can just see it. There is this person Paul describes who stands their ground while hurricane level winds attempt to pry them loose from their secure position. There is, however, a great Christian irony that often comes attached to that image. This sermon examines that irony and seeks to leave the listener standing firmer than ever before.
