In this episode I'm talking to my son Ismail about his very interesting reading experiences. He shares how he really loved reading sci-fi books when he was younger and why he's not into reading now. Even though he's not reading like he should he definitely understands the importance of reading and he also gives great tips on how to get young people into reading. This episode right here was one of the liveliest, fun with a hint of goofiness conversations I had with my daughter Sauda about her reading experiences. She talks about her favorite books she likes to read,  where she likes to read and how she wants to write her own book if she just gets a round to finishing the ones she started. I'm telling you this episode exemplifies another side to Real Reading Talk that I believe young people in particular would enjoy. Sauda reminds us how reading can be exciting and enjoyable which is one of the messages I want our young people to get from listening to our conversation.  Her energy she's bringing to the episode reminds us of how we must allow our children to express themselves in the way they choose, as long as they keep it respectful.  

In this episode I talk about the ways in which we need to prepare our children to be confident, educated and have conviction when they are going into these "school" environments real soon. I'm also talking about the ways in which our Black children's natural head start gets disrupted and the ways in which we can combat this by referencing the book Awakening the natural genius of Black children by Dr. Amos Wilson.
